It's not proposed though is it? It's actually happening. A proposal infers that there has been an inclusive discussion where a consensus has been agreed.

I have just heard about this and it's a like it or lump it edict, not really a proposal.

It’s a trial. FIFA runs dozens of trials at a time. The blue card is just one of several trials around Sin bins/cards that’s being announced at the same time.

It will be used in some random youth league like the “daylight offside” trial going on in Italy’s u21 league at the moment.

Get in the bin. Referees already can't cope. Makes no sense giving them more subjective decisions to make.

Having had half an hour to think more about it, perhaps yellow cards should be a sin binning, just as in rugby, but all incidents shown on the big screen and the ref and VAR/TMO audible in stadium.

There are far too many yellow cards anyway these days.

Sin bins have no place in the game as far as I’m concerned.
A straight yellow for dissent or diving then a no questions asked red if repeated should help curb the issue.
I’ve no issues with the powers at be trying to curb the aggression towards officials that’s crept into the game but I’ll never agree to a sin bin being the way forward.

The only way it's ever going to work (and VAR for that matter) is for the refs to be mic'd up like in ruby for clear transparency.

It’s a trial of a proposed rule change that will give practical evidence of how the rule changes the game for better or worse for when IFAB decides on whether to introduce the rule or not.
