Blue cards to be trialled for sin-bins | IFAB postpones introduction (pg13)

There would be no need for this if the officials did their job properly.
not really, refs that have had good games have at times been treated like shite by many a player

rooney
keane
neville
fernandes

though I see a common theme there ;-)

There would be no need for this is refs were mike'd up and every comment heard, players would soon watch their tone and words and refs would have to be accountable for their decisions, blue cards are a cop out.

Thought about this many years ago, when VAR was being implemented, and would have said it could be a goer. Then you see how fucked up VAR is and one could only conclude that this would be just another way to manipulate games and strengthen their brand.

Can’t believe clubs have voted this through.

Sounds terrible, the refs are under enough scrutiny & now they want to put them under more pressure or ud it something else?

There has been less red cards so apply the fucking laws as they are written.

Given the amount of debate, and apologies, in the current game, adding such a potentially huge game changing feature is madness.

A lot would say the standard of refereeing is poor at present. A lot would say that even var is not getting calls right. So why introduce a rule that exposes referees, players and fans to potentially significant effects when we can't guarantee the laws of the game are being applied correctly?

Do we all really want to be sat here debating why Rodri was sin binned for a foul but another players wasn't? What if the other team scores and then the sin bin decision is proven to be wrong, and Webb even offers one of his ten a penny apologies? Vastly increases the capacity for 'levelling he playing field'. Plus more goals is exciting for the punters, right? Right?

What next? Replays? More games? More money? More game receipts, television money, sponsorship money, higher match day income whilst at the same getting over increasing the number of games by making players and fans actually want the replays, in the name of justice? Oh, hang on... Sorry that was the notes from the last premier league meeting which somehow found their way onto my desk.

Unnecessary and needless. As if the refs need more opportunities for inconsistencies.

A yellow is caution for a foul. This straight up cripples a team for 10 mins. Do the decision-makers just not know how big of an impact losing one player is?

Who came up with this shit?

Someone who is making money out of the game but has never kicked a ball in his life. Possibly a someone from the other side of the Atlantic.

Is this blue card thing before or after a yellow card has been issued?

Or is it separate? Two separate disciplinary systems within the same game is ludicrous.

Another fantastic way to be able to cheat the results!

Hats off to those in charge and the Americans secretly behind it for their newest attempt at killing the game!
why is it the Americans? sin bin cards have been in English football for 4 seasons at younger levels of the game

The dumbest idea i've heard of.

Sin bins might suit other sports, but in football it makes zero sense. You commit a foul, you're given a warning. Fail to adhere to that warning and you're removed from play.

This "proposal" seems to suggest that a player commits a blue card foul... but it's not that bad enough to warrant a red card, but is bad enough to have them removed from the field, for a little bit.

And they seriously don't think referees would abuse this new 'system'? In a world of aggressive walking?

Do you think the actual refs want this? They will hate it as it just makes their job even harder and more big decisions to get wrong.

Refs cant get decisions right when they can go to a monitor and watch it on a replay over and over again, what chance have they got when it comes to things like dissent where there is no replays or 2nd opinion and all its all based on emotion and judgement.

Like you say, the inconsistencies will be an absolute killer for the game.
