Blue Moon Playlist Review Club - Season 2 - Episode 27 - Out on blue 6 - Gone Too Soon (pg 438)

Why don't we give @stonerblue till 2pm, and if he is unavailable, we'll bump @Saddleworth2 who is already on standby. We can deal with the swappage of who goes next after that, perhaps a straight swap with stonesy ready for next week instead.

If no change by 2, Saddles just post your list on here.
Sorry mate just seen this. Am busy with tax return at mo.

i Have always been interested in the relationship between music and other art forms particularly film and TV. My playlist is a little different, I hope not too commercial, and is inspired by the Greatest TV series ever made. The Sopranos.

All the music for the Sopranos was chosen by the show runner David Chase and he had a particular genius for choosing non obvious tunes to brilliantly illustrate a scene. At times the choices were so immersive that I now cannot hear certain tunes without the accompanying scene playing like a movie reel in my head. For those that don’t know the Sopranos, this hopefully will be a good varied listen covering as it does a number of different genres Including classical, rock, American songbook and blues. Listen carefully for the City references in one of the tracks - I hadn’t realised David Chase was a Blue. For those that do know the Sopranos, a coconut for anyone that identifies which episode/scene each of these songs featured in.

as I only use Amazon Music, hopefully some kind soul can put these seven songs onto a Spotify Playlist for everyone. Hope you enjoy:

1. Woke up this Morning - Alabama 3
2. It was a very good year - Frank Sinatra
3. Peter Gunn theme - The Blues Brothers
4. State Trooper - Bruce Springsteen
5. Dirty Work - Steely Dan
6. Don’t stop believin’ - Journey
7. Con te Partiro - Andrea Bocelli

I do have a slightly more challenging playlist if you don’t like that one. Let’s see how we go.

Well anything with Dirty Work by Steely Dan is OK by me, although somewhat mitigated by the Journey song but I’ll listen to it with open ears…

Couldn’t get into the Sopranos but never tried that hard to be honest.

I've not even watched the sopranos, but the scene with the journey song is legendary. And has made the song well popular, more than it ever could have hoped for originally.

BUT

Although sopranos is often credited with getting the song back into the spotlight, it is not true. Another show beat them to it by about 3 years.

I don't know anything about Journey but i could describe every second of what i think is the greatest climax in tv history whenever i hear it.
btw. thanks for putting the playlist together for me mate.

Edit. thanks @Mancitydoogle
