I have to admit I missed (forgot/didnt read) the 5 rule but did remember the time limit and I was well within that.A couple mentions of the number over 5, and I imagine a couple more thinking it, so I'll wade in too.
I think we should try stick to the 5 max. Doesn't have to be militant, but it is good for consistency.
I can however see instances where going over might be deemed needed, and if we do, then lets let there be a good reason for it, and state that reason. I.e not just adding numbers, but either completing a set begging to be complete, or rounding off nicely etc.
For example, an EP with 6 songs in total, be daft to play 5 and leave out the last one, and folk would probably listen to it anyway. Or say u want to put forward a band and one song from each of their albums, and they had 6, etc.
I guess in this one you felt they had links? Either way, if going over, best stick within the time limit, and maybe not make a habit of it.
That's where I stand on it, happy to be overruled though.
In defence, I tried to give a sample of the Sopranos in its entirety and picked from my playlist of over 50 songs and was quite pleased to get it down to seven which also represented the variety of music.
For me, the more important aspect is the timing for the playlist so it is an easy to digest play.
However, I consider myself reprimanded for my flagrant breach of rules, humbly apologise and await a VAR review by Michael Oliver.
