Blue Moon Top 100 Bands Artists - Full List of Artists (pg 287)

Loved their first and second albums.
Think they are top of the table in the album review club as well.
James one good singles but let's be honest if they were not from Manchester they would be nowhere near the top 20.
The Masterplan is currently 4th in the Album Club table.

They could have stuck it in level, that would piss my OCD off (it already has and it isn't my book lol)
Ha ha! There are loads of great music books and autobiographies out at the moment, looking forward to starting this one.

Again,
James are another band I don’t dislike but I’m suprised they made the top 20
Like most people i can’t stand ‘sit down’ as it’s been played to death.
I arranged a mortgage for Tim Booths then girlfriend and manager Martine back in the day.He came across as a really nice guy and we chatted for a couple of hours about music, we’d both been to the same gigs and liked the similar music, but I never really got into James.

I suspect they'll be mostly (not completely) forgotten in 50 years. I doubt many 20-year olds have ever heard of them.
You could say that about any of the greats from the rock era. Or any classical music that kids just don't listen to it does not mean they wjnt get the respect they deserve !

I’ve said this before in another recent thread; for me, James were the best band in Manchester for a few years in the mid to late 80s. No mean feat considering the competition. Thrilling live, early singles were great, Stutter suffered from some indifferent production, but was still a wonderful album. Strip-mine was sublime and One Man Clapping is phenomenal. After that, they turned to shit.

Those mentioning the Bunnymen at the FTH in 88 did they play more than 1 night at the FTH on that tour?
I went around that time to see them at the FTH and it was very tasty. McCulloch was hammered and was slagging off Manchester, specifically the footballs clubs. Because of this and the fact his performance was awful the crowd at the front were baying for his blood. Apparently the following night he had to apologise for his behaviour.

Anyway, here`s hoping for Deacon Blue?
