Blue Moon Top 100 Bands Artists - Full List of Artists (pg 287)

I’d say I have no idea why Oasis are so popular but I imagine they’re in the top 5.
Lots of Oasis bashing going on but let us not forget that they have the fifth best selling UK album of all time with What's the story. Only bettered by Queen greatest hits , ABBA greatest hits , the Beatles with sergeant pepper and Adele with 21.
When I first started going in pubs in the early nineties, Oasis together with the stone Roses dominated the jukebox. They instigated a cultural revolution and had the best selling album of the nineties.
James was the first single I ever bought but they had nothing on Oasis and did not make my top 15. Oasis should definitely in the top five

Live Forever. Supersonic. Rock n Roll Star. Slide Away. Columbia + The Masterplan album and future B sides. make them one of the best bands ever.

The quality songwriter ’ Noel’ and the top quality singer Liam is why. Not since Dylan and the Beatles has anyone come close to matching the worldwide success of Oasis.
it’s why Liam is my top of the Pops, not Sheeran jumping out of a sausage roll

when we won the cup with Mancini that’s when I really listened and noticed Oasis they still appeal anyway I*ll just wish all the bluemooners a very happy Xmas and don’t knock the wine all over the table like me.

Happy Xmas all. Oasis were never as big over here as they were there but I can completely see why they were/are so popular with their giant, declamatory riffs and choruses and wall-of-sound production. They were always designed for the arena; they were meant to be huge. But I’ve always liked them too and think their songs are especially translatable to acoustic versions which says a lot. Even if they weren’t Mancs I’d have to believe they’d be high up in any Brit poll.

All together now: “Oh sit down, oh sit down. Sit down next to me.” And if you could just shut up as well, lads? Anybody else get fed up of groups of beer-swilling loudmouths singing this chorus at every event in the early 90s? Anyway, I was surprised at how popular James were in this vote, which just goes to show you how far my finger is away from the pulse. (Apologies to James fans, but I really don’t like that song).

Decent band, but I can’t help but feel they wouldn’t have made the top 40 at any other club.

First i ever saw and heard of James was this back in 1985:

I went out and bought their two singles and went to see them live after...10 times up to the G-Mex gig in 1990:

They became a different band at this time and not really to my taste.

"But but..if they weren't from Manchester they wouldn't be in this list".
They're not that well known in the mainstream really..if they were, they'd be in MORE lists.
