Blue Moon Top 100 Bands Artists - Full List of Artists (pg 287)

This quantity over quality barometer som of you have is odd to me.

Give me 1-2 LPs of greatness over someone who can produce 10 of an average nature.
No argument there. But as others have noted, I’d be looking at 1 or 2 albums of greatness and another 5 or 6 really good albums to back it up. Nobody can make just 1 or 2 albums and claim to be great or seminal IMO.

Oasis fall into that one..... 2 fantastic albums and four (?) or was it 5 best forgotten.
See The Stone Roses too. One amazing debut album and then 5 years to come out with an album with 4 decent tunes on it.

Not many bands make 4 albums and each one surpasses the last in quality. I can only think of The Smiths in that category which is why they should walk this competition. They didn't need a shed load of drugs either to write their tunes
I would agree on the smiths I don't think any of their LPs are average or bad, each one is top, but then I could say that of elbow, who I am sure will not appear here.

On this poll up to now I can only think of the Pixies, Pulp and James that have consistently produced LPs that are both top drawer and improve each time in their peak years, from my time growing up in the 80s/90s.

As a child born in 76 tge 70s stuff is only from reflective listening and if I had to say put of the likes of the gratfull dead, steeley dan etc I prefered The Band if honest.

Again though having heard all their LPs Zeplin are the great pretenders and an average band that done good.

Elbow finished in pos #183, 3 points / 2 votes.

Yet asleep in the back, cast of thousands leaders of the free world, seldome seen kid and build a rocket boys are 5 solid Albums in row and bar the ropey Take off and landing of you, the last 3 LPs have been high standard too.

I suppose it is all about personal taste but if the judgement is on ability to create consistently good LPs Elbow have done that.

Out of curiosity, where did Alice in Chains finish?

They may be depressing but I consider them to be the best grunge band ever. Staley and Cantrell were talented guys.

I don’t know much about them but the odd song I’ve heard is decent, There are a LOT of bands that consistently put out good material, or have had their 10-15 years in the sun, that are missing from the top 100 (cough, cough, the US; cough, cough, Australia). And no doubt other places as well.
