Blue Moon Top 100 Bands Artists - Full List of Artists (pg 287)

I think tons. Growing up in the 90's, Radiohead and NIN were big ones, although I wasn't big fans of either

Modern days, Greta Van Fleet, MGMT, STRFKR, Tame Impala, Portugal the Man, Of Montreal all have pretty heavy influences, I think. That's just off the top of my head.

I'd think even going back to their heyday that Bowie had borrowed a good bit

Anything with a bluesy, psychedlic, slow rock type sound my mind goes to them. I'm definitely open to hearing what others think though, happy to learn

edit: also concept albums! not saying they invented them, but when I think of a concept album, regardless of genre, I think Pink Floyd
Thanks, although Ive never heard of any of them except Radiohead.
I know Eloy were massively influenced by Floyd for sure.

I'm a mixed bag with that.
I really like PM's first solo album "McCartney" its probably my favourite. Two of my favourite solo tracks are on it, Junk and Maybe I'm Amazed.
I like quite a few Wings songs but I feel Paul was mainly going too pop for me. Although Wings Over America is a superb live album, they were not lightweight on that tour and I'm surprised he had any vocal chords left. Let Me Roll It is a superb song imo.
Some of his post Wings albums I also like, Chaos & Creation and Egypt Station, excellent albums also like the Fireman albums.
George's solo stuff doesnt float my boat, the odd song like What Is Life, Isnt It A Pity, Beware Of Darkness and All Things Must Pass are good songs but that triple album didnt work for me, too rambly, although very well and painstakingly recorded.
John's work was good and bad, I loved his Plastic Ono Band Primal Therapy album (his best for me), and Imagine was very good. Some songs on Double Fantasy I liked very much.
Primal Scream a great album always on my playlist to this day , definitely his best solo work for me.

How about Woody Guthrie , Frank Sinatra , the Moody Blues and Pete Townshend at his very best entirely composing my favourite concept album of all time Quadrophenia.

Any room for Andy Stewart? For those green hills are not highland hills…..
Never been a proper Hogmanay on TV since the plug was pulled on the Scottish version.
We got Jools Holland instead….no wonder the SNP rule Scotland.

So Sad Cafe not in top 4 nor in notables outside top 100!!!

I am not a conspiracy theorist but suggest the the assocation made with the band name and the Man United forum has effectively collectively brainwashed this forum with negative connotations with the band itself. A sad reflection on the sheeple voting in this thread. You all need to do the research man. Realise, the Smitherarteee want you to behave like this, to shoe gaze, look down instead of up....

Surely, at least some placards and a protest against this conspiracy is warranted outside the stadium at the Chelsea match...

4. Stones
3. Smiths
2. Oasis
1. Beatles

I have to believe one of the Manc bands is top 2 given everything that’s come so far and I can’t see it being The Smiths nor can I see them beating out The Beatles, no matter how many accounts @Mad Eyed Screamer has.
I think Rob posted regarding the Oasis vs Beatles semi-final that one was 4th and the other in the top 2, so there's no chance that you have them in the right order there. It must be Oasis 4th and Beatles in the top 2.

Bloody hell...... so The Smiths are 3rd or (gulp) 1st
They could also be second.

Correct - glad somebody gets it.

Amazing how many football fans don't understand the concept of semi-finals!

So just to spell it out, because I know semi-finals are a confusing concept (I think it's time for the old "we need a slide rule here" chestnut).

Oasis lose semi-final one, and finish 4th.

The Beatles advance to the final, so they will be 1st or 2nd

Tomorrow, plucky underdogs, The Smiths, will take on the mighty Rolling Stones, which means one of them will finish 3rd and the other will advance to the final.

Any more questions?
