Blue Moon Top 100 Bands Artists - Full List of Artists (pg 287)

The Smiths being the top Manchester band is no surprise.
It was to me.
Obviously my favourite but I imagined the Roses and Oasis would have been higher with voters.
I mean the Smiths and Morrissey thread has about 5 or 6 regular members posting on it (fans) and around 20 of the usual suspects putting the band (or the singer more specifically) down.
Clearly there is a sizeable silent number of appreciative members on here :)

OK, let's do this again, same time next year.
The new rules will be:-
1. No Manchester bands
2. Your top 15 must cover at least three continents
3. Your top 15 must include at least one artist whose debut album was in each of the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s, and 10s.
Easy

1.The Kinks 60s Europe
2. Frank Sinatra 50s North America
3.The Pixies 80s N America
4.The Small faces 60s Europe
5.The Jam 70s Europe
6. The beatles 60s Europe
7. Rollign blackouts Costal Fever 10s Oceania
8. Carabao 80s Asia
9. Abba 70s Europe
10. The Specials 80s Europe
11. Neil Young 60s N America
12. Sleaford Mods 00s Europe
13. Marvin Gaye 60s N America
14. Talking Heads 70s N America
15. Yoasobi 20s Asia

Even managed to get a band in the 20s in and they are in no particular order btw ;-)

Myself included in the silent number.

How the fuck do Sleaford Mods get tucked into the middle of The Specials, Neil Young, Marvin Gaye and Talking Heads.....?

That's an even better idea. The prime requirement will be a decent vocalist so that will instantly rule all the Mancs out.

Blue and sadly departed Manc and Denise Johnson has a fantastic singing voice.

I will give you the males are tuneless mind.

Listened to Meat is Murder yesterday.Loved it.
Lasted the test of time in my opinion.
The Queen is Dead the one I struggle with now.Weirdly probably most fans favourite.
Strangeways my favourite now.

Struggle with TQID? Wow. Still my all time favorite album by anyone.
I played Hatful of Hollow in readiness for this poll and what a collection of b sides and different versions that is for a band that was in their first year together.

A friend of mine has tried to get me into them for a while. Keeps sending me videos.
Just don't get it. 2 blokes in their 40's or 50's, scruffy buggers, is it white rap? No idea. But sounds shite

I was the same when I first heard them and saw them on some.telly show.

I then watched their set at glastonbury and thought ok better live, so bought a few songs and went to see them.

Brilliant gig and I have seen them 4 times since also it's a bot mad the audience as it is a right mix of music genres and ages

They are a bit performance art, a bit social commentary and music. The lyrics though sweary are very inteligent at times.
