For a future poll.....
It has been noted about lack of female and US artists but not seen anyone comment yet as to how white the top 100 has been.
Just 5 non white names in there (5 and a half if you include The Specials)
Would.love to see a.non white poll as even though I am (was) a typical 80's white indie kid there is still a love of Motown, dub and soul in me, just not in my top 15 - and a Manc band can still come on top with Sweet Sensation!

Even managed to get a band in the 20s in and they are in no particular order btw ;-)

The Kinks number one is arguably more Brit-tribal than the Smiths being top 2 is Manc-tribal.

Not a bad list at all -- there are a couple of bands I haven't heard, but I like the variety and mix of new and old.

My original list was confined to two continents and only had bands whose debut records were 60s-90s (though I had a number of 90s bands on there). This might be an interesting exercise.
