Blue Moon Top 100 Bands Artists - Full List of Artists (pg 287)

I didn't realise until last night that Bruce features on three tracks of the forthcoming Mellencamp album.
Yes, I posted about that on the Americana thread a few weeks ago. To be honest, I've found Mellencamp's last three albums well below his best, so it will be interesting to see how the new one sounds.

I don't mind Arenas: I like big shows. Not so keen on outdoor gigs but seen some great ones.

Bryan Adams at GMex was really good but the best gig by him, and I've seen quite a lot according to my setlist account, was the one I saw at Hammy Odeon where you just knew that he would be graduating to larger venues: the atmosphere and audience reaction confimred that he was heading for the top.
I got lucky with the Bryan Adams GMEX gig. I went into Piccadilly Records to buy some other tickets when they were literally just putting the card up in the window (I can still picture the grey cards with the red writing they put on there!) Anyway, I snapped up some tickets and got in the 7th row with an incredible view.

Shame Bryan Adams completely lost it (musicallly) after Into The Fire.

Deep Purple for some reason we're never loved by the music press, Zeppelin were always the media darlings.

One of many things I have repeated on these music threads is that Barry Ancill who owned the ticket agency business that operated in Piccadilly Records basement was a friend of my father's and I just used to ring him up and get him to save me tickets for any gig I wanted to go to. I'd walk into that basement and there'd be a queue at the ticket booth which I could just bypass and go into the office and buy my tickets - those were the days.

Yeah, it's a log time since I bought an Adams album or went to a show; although I imagine his gigs are still very good.

Wow, that's a good connection to have, no wonder you went to so many fantastic gigs.

You've just reminded me of a "family friend" story that I'd forgotten about. When I wanted to get tickets to see Bruce at Bramhall Lane in 1988, my mum and dad didn't have a credit card. Luckily, my Mum's boss (a family friend) let us use his credit card to book the four tickets on the phone. I think the face value was about £300. Imagine his shock (and our embarrassment) when a cock-up with the bill meant that he got a bill for £3000+. I think it was sorted out quickly enough.
