Blue Moon Top 100 Bands Artists - Full List of Artists (pg 287)

I've had four in so far, one of which was a big surprise. Five of mine are no way getting in. That leaves six out of the next 36 which seems unlikely. Somehow we're going to be missing some pretty well known and popular bands since none of my six are that unusual nor even that "American".

Come on, admit it. That initial gratitude that your favourites weren’t in the lower reaches of the Top 100 is slowly being replaced by the fear that they’ll miss out entirely, isn’t it?

This latest list goes all the way up to 11.

Two Manc bands for you today: Happy Mondays and Doves plus some other highly thought-of bands from elsewhere in the UK: Elton John, The Specials and Depeche Mode.

Forum favourites, Talking Heads make #40, and surely there isn’t person on the planet who will be able to resist moving their feet when Steve Wonder’s “Superstition” starts up. Well, maybe Man United’s midfield, they struggle to move their feet for anything these days.

Depeche Mode - I reviewed ‘Violator’ once, awesome album, ‘World In My Eyes’, ‘Personal Jesus’ and ‘Enjoy the silence’. Perfect pop tracks

Stevie Wonder - absolute legend, only know his high charting pop stuff. Never heard any of his albums.

The Specials - I’m not sure about ska. I want to like it. Just find it abit annoying. ‘Ghost Town’ is a great track though.

Talking Heads - ‘Remain in Light’ kicked off my Top 1100 thread and followed shortly up their live album - ‘stop making sense’ - I wouldn’t have known much about them before but enjoyed their stuff and watching Byrne live was a joy, pure performance art.

The Doves - glad to see them here, wasn’t on my list. But loved them through my indie teenage years - ‘there goes the fear’ will always have a place in my heart.

Happy Mondays - never actually heard much of their stuff aside ‘Step On’ which seemed to be on a never ending repeat on radio back in the day.

Elton John - Smashed out some amazing pop records throughout the decades. Deserves to be here.

Bet you had The Fugs in there though :)

Every artist who scored between 12 and 16 points today.

For a change, there isn’t a Manc band in sight and only three from Britain: Radiohead, The Arctic Monkeys and the perennially popular Queen.

From the US, we have a combination of indie/punk acts with The Pixies, The Ramones and REM plus rock superstars, The Doors.

We’re also handing out the final Australasian medals here. Joining Crowded House on the podium are hard rockers AC/DC grabbing the silver and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds being crowned top Aussie act. It’s interesting that Nick Cave was nowhere up until the last two days of voting, when a flurry of support lifted him and his band to the lofty heights of #31.

From here on in, we’re down to just four countries (Manchester being one of them for the purposes of this list).
