Bluemoon Angling Thread

cant see why fishing isn't allowed, possibly the most social distancing sport there is,worms or maggots don't need to be bought, you lads that do fly fishing don't need bait, other anglers can use bread sweetcorn ect ect. can anyone give me 1 reason you aren't allowed to fish
The official reason is that it encourages non essential travel which in a lot of cases is true. My nearest decent fishery is 45 minutes drive. Even if you are in a boat with a partner, you are pretty much 6 feet apart. Before the lockdown fisheries had already put in place good protection measures like disinfecting boats after use, pre-paying, staggered starts and finishes, closing lodges etc so the one outing I had, I felt safer than going to the supermarket for sure. I am very hopeful that it will be amongst the first things relaxed. Running a fishery involves fine margins in the first place. God only knows what this will do to many businesses.

Absolutely correct, but I think there is a worry that once you allow one sport/outdoor activity you open the floodgates and before you know it Liverpool will be insisting they can finish the season without breaking the 2m rule.
You can ponce about on a push bike mate

There are a few 45mins-an hour drive away. My usuals are Coldingham Loch, Lake of Menteith, Morton Reservoir, Linlithgow Loch. I already had to cancel my annual jaunt to Rutland Water :-(. Bloody hell that hurt.

No point in dressing as a salmon, you would certainly stand out.

The silver tourist is rarer than an honest scouser.

I know the feeling mate. Already cancelled a week on the Dee and had a week on the Annan next month cancelled by the owners :(

My club has a week on the Tay in early May which has been cancelled. Just about to cancel my June Irish holiday too. Had planned a day on an Irish Lough after wild brownies. I would love to think that this enforced 'no fishing' would help the salmon population recover, sadly I think it will have minimal effect as long as industrial fishing continues and salmon farms remain legal. Fly tying has never been so productive though - three a day keeps (some) boredom away. I can tell I have improved through tying three times more than normal.

Lower Kinnaird. We have a week and book accommodation from the fishery. Not one of my regulars as I am normally fishing Rutland on the same week. They average about one fish in total for the week between the 6 - 8 anglers so its hard going. I think the trip is more popular for the vast quantities of malt that get consumed.

There’s an article in today’s Telegraph that suggests that when the first easing of lockdown takes place fishing, golf and bowls might be allowed. I’m clinging to that hope.

Thanks. Really missing it now. Having lived on my own for ten years up to last November I never quite appreciated how alien the concept of silence is to some people (not least the girlfriend !)

that is Bass heaven and we are stuck in here ! Argh
I have a cunning plan(looks behind and to the sides) cut down a rod, slide it into you the arm of your long tshirt, and keep flicking it out,if anyone pulls you just say you've got Tourette's and fuck off ,let us know how you get on
