Bluemoon's Official Top 100 Films

I suppose it's inconceivable that ANY of those films wouldn't be in the top 100, and I'm using the results of a poll I did a few years ago as a guide ...... except Aliens finished 2nd in that one!!!

There's a few I haven't seen and "Blade Runner" is a bit lost on me, I just found it dull, but I'm sure it'll be there as I'm clearly not getting something everybody else does.

Had there been a proper space set horror prior to Alien? its a genre defining film, and very well made. The casting is excellent with a variety of actors who all play their role well, and by having only a small cast not one character is wasted.

There are tense scenes in here, and there are shock moments too with plenty of gore like any decent horror. Also the alien itself is cleverley done, it kills as it is "born" and it develops in size and intelligence and threat as the film itself develops. It is no wonder this alien has etched itself its own career.

Also, its got Harry Dean Stanton in it, one of my favourite unsung acting heroes.....brings my count up to ten overall with possibly two or three more(hopefully).

On the original v sequel discussion, all my choices have been the first ones, there is just "something" about the inspiration for a first movie in a trilogy or whatever, but thats just opinion of course.

Most sci-fi has an element of horror, although usually it was aliens coming to Earth rather than being set in space. The only one I can think of is 2001 A Spacy Odyssey, which isn't horror, but does have a creepy AI computer. I'm sure there must be others, but nothing I can think of off the top of my head. Alien definitely did it best.

Actually, I've found one. Basically the same rough plot as Alien.

It would be a surprise now if that wasn't the top ten. It's all about what order they are going to appear in.

I tend to shy away from predictions about most things but I'll stick my neck out and say Jaws won't be #1 (apologies if I'm repeating myself on that point).
It cant be. Not if there is a god and a modicum of taste. I have seen it a couple of times since the first time and bloody hell that shark looks more and more ridiculous the more you see it.

Got 3 votes but scored below 20.
thats me, @mancity2012_eamo and @OB1, there must be more surely. We three cannot be the only ones with taste who voted. I demand a recount. Justice must be done for Marilyn, Jack and Tony not to mention Joe E Brown at Osgood Fielding III. Voted the greatest comedy movie in american history and not in our top 100.
Oh, the shame ;-(
