Blues in the Stretford End ‘92

I watched the 1-1 draw at Old Trafford towards the end of the 91 - 92, keeping very quiet throughout. Nothing unusual there, I reckon there were a good few Blues doing the same thing.

What was unusual was there we’re about fifty to a hundred Blues stood in the corner of the terrace to the right. I thought they’d get kicked out, but stewards stood round them instead and they let sky blue balloons off just before kick off.

It was all a bit surreal, not least when Keith Curle equalised from the penalty spot and they were jumping about celebrating.

Was anyone on here there or know the story behind it? Never seen owt like it before or since, but praise be to those Blues that made that corner of the Stretford End ours!

I was in there. Mikey Williams sorted us all out with tickets. I'd say there were easily 500 hundred in there at kick-off, once we all established where each other were.

Best feeling I've ever had at an away game, the look on the faces of the scumbags jumping into the Stretford Paddock from the Stretford End.

We all stuck very close together and looked out for each other on the way out. Coton ran out at half-time and came running over to us at half-time giving us the c'mon and fist-pumping.

Neil Poynton got sent off and it started to kick-off above us as the United fans tried to push us down the terrace.

When Curley scored it was fucking manic. An idea of how many we had in there and some of the handy lads in our company, nutter Paul Nolan took his coat off and had a Leeds United shirt under it (Leeds going for title).

United fans trying to get to him and he's laughing his bollocks off surrounded by a City cordon.

I was at that one. We got 850 tickets when the Stretford End was being rebuilt. I was in the United Road Paddock.
Is that the game the toe sucker scored after a few minutes. In their seats just below where the seats they give us now in their old main stand. Toe sucker scored and not many near me jumped up. Lots of nods and winks even though we were one down

Yes John his name is ex seaman and a big Blue I knew him years ago, we used to drink in the Snooty Fox on Princess Parkway. We were having a drink in there before the Charlton 5-1 promotion game and Alan the manager at the time gave us free hospitality tickets in the Maine Stand as the brewery were sponsoring it. He was also in Porto for the champions League final.

I actually can't remember the result but I remember they always used to give us a little strip of seats to the side of where the away end is now, pretty much that small part of the main stand which is still given to away fans. I can remember seeing them standing up and chanting but can't remember much else and the figure of 850 has always stuck with me.

As an aside, I went to Anfield where they only gave us a couple of hundred seats. They'd done it because they were redeveloping the Kop but they ended up actually opening it that night. I sat in their Main STand and I think we lost about 2-0. Mid 90s this was.

One of the old school. We were both at sea at the same time and his missus, then girlfriend Annette, worked at customs. I haven't seen him them in years but recently reconnected online. I'll have to pop down to that pub of his for a beer

I remember it very well I got two tickets from a rag in work and just went not knowing they’d be around 400- 500 of us in there … the team came over and applauded us at full time . Rags didn’t have a clue what was going on , the old bill tried to cordon us off at one point.

Weirdly enough this was the only time I've ever been inside old Trafford. I was only 15 and there were a decent crowd of us from Middleton in the Stretford Paddock bouncing about having the fucking time of our lives.
Never once felt moody due to the numbers of blues and the goal was fucking bedlam!! I moved abroad not long after so my abiding memory of that shit hole was a good one.

Yeah some of the numbers look off. I was in the official away end that night (after queuing for 4 hours to get a ticket) and it looked like it went up most of the stand on the left hand side (looking at it from where i was). 300/400 hundred easily, maybe more!!

It was epic when Curle scored and someone was on the pitch celebrating with him!! White should have won it missed a sitter 6 yards out

I was in the city end that night. Working in Bristol at the time so drove back up the M5 surrounded by coaches from all over the South West getting dogs abuse as I had the scarf out of the Window
Back in Bristol at 7-00am the next morning

When the city fans were marched round the pitch the one and only Curly Watts (Kevin Kennedy) was one of them as he came and stood next to me
Whatever happened to Kevin ??

Some bounce behind the goal that when Curle equalised, shown it to my lad ,that's how crowds used to be son, sadly I was in the Stretford end sat on my hands when it went in, White missed a glorious chance to win it aswell late on!

That person who jumped on Curle

That person on Curle's back actually ran from the United end!

Strange how this game has come up on the forum. Me and my brother were in the Stretford end at this one too. I distinctly remember all the blues down to our right in the bottom of the Stretford paddock. Bought two tickets off a tout outside the ground the day before as I worked in Trafford Park back then. As our kid’s wardrobe at the time consisted entirely of City shirts and jackets, I told him he couldn’t possibly turn up in those, and also not to cheer if we scored,as we’d probably get filled in, being outnumbered thousands to two !! When the penalty was given, some numpty ie myself, jumped up and screamed “yes”. Will never forget our kid telling me “shut the fuck up” out of the corner of his mouth without turning to look at me as a Holland’s pie narrowly missed my head ! White did indeed miss a sitter to win it late on too. Thankfully we got out unscathed and laughed about it loads of times later. Why do I find it strange for this particular game to come up ?? Our kid passed away from cancer in July this year, and this game was one of my favourite memories of our away trips watching City. Reading these posts brings it all back vividly

I was in the United seats behind the City fans that night. Got pelted at the end but a good night which would have been great if Whitey had finished that chance.
