Boateng to Bayern

Sentiments out of the window if a player is better, then why the hell not? I love Boyata, but at the end of the day, ability is what counts and if a player is better, he's better.

If anything it will create competition which will get the best out of our players because all of them want to make it. Those that don't will get a rotation role and whoever's left at the bottom will either be loaned or sold on for a pretty penny.

There are non sentimental reasons for wanting Boyata to do well and giving him a degree of preference. To maximise our European squad we need home trained players. If bringing in other young players diminishes Boyatas opportunities and hence development it is to our detriment if he is otherwise good enough.

I agree. My hope is not based in sentiment. I think Boyata has as much potential as any of our CBs--including Vinny.
I agree that Boyatta has major potential.

.......but not as much as Boetang has.

Boateng's transfer fee to Bayern is £12m possibly rising to £15.5m with bonuses according to Raphael Honigstein @ Sports Illustrated.

So has he actually had his medical?

-- Fri Jul 15, 2011 3:20 pm --

It will be interesting to watch Boateng, Savic, and Boyata over the coming years to see who comes out as the best.

Boateng: I’m delighted to be here

Centre-back Jerome Boateng has arrived in Munich and will sign for Bayern this weekend. After a long and tiring flight from Los Angeles, the Germany international landed in the Bavarian capital at half-past ten on Friday morning, and FCB.tv was waiting to greet him as he stepped off the plane. “The flight was hard work, but I’m just delighted the wrangling’s finally over,” Boateng declared.

The central defender is set to sign a four-year contract with Bayern, keeping him in Munich until 30 June 2015. “Despite the difficult negotiations, I’m delighted the club never caved in and kept fighting to get me,“ Boateng continued.

Did he really say the "flight" was hard work?!? Maybe we ARE better off without him.
