Bobby Charlton passes away at the age of 86

RIP Bobby but he wasn’t even close to being the best English player.
Who was better? Never seen him play but going off what so many ex players say and having been England’s record goal scorer for about 40 years without playing upfront. Plus winning the world cup he must have been up there.

Plenty of people who saw him play (including Tommy Docherty) say Tom Finney is out on his own as the greatest English player.
I think greatness is defined in different ways. Although I've heard a lot of people of the era say Finney was the best they ever saw.
Charlton was a major part of two teams who achieved more than Finney's teams.
I remember Charlton playing and I wouldn't demur from him being the greatest English footballer.
