I was probably eight years old and on one of my first visits to Maine Road and my Uncle and I had seats just behind the Ipswich Town Dug Out. I was in awe of him then and I am now Forty years later.

All the sentiments expressed on here today are being felt the Football World over. Gazza, Jose, Luis Figo, Ronaldo, Shearer, Stuart Pearce, George Burley, Lineker, Sir Bobby Charlton and Pep Guardiola among others to have played with him or for him.

Football fans everywhere have lost their favourite Uncle.
