Boro Post Match thread

Hilarious. How about playing a predominantly passing game but with passion and having it in our locker to go long if, for example, we have been passing it round for 80 minutes in front of a packed defence, getting absolutely nowhere. Why not as well as having a load of silky footballers, have the odd player who can get stuck in when other teams are kicking us off the park rather than relying on refs who invariably let them bully us? Why does it all have to be either or? Why does passing football have to mean ignoring lots of other facets of the game, why seemingly does attacking football mean we have to be terrible at defending? How about we bring a bit of balance to the table rather than have the people running the club telling us that we have a set way of playing as a matter of principle and that we cannot veer from that? I'd like us to focus on winning football matches rather than focusing on trying to impersonate Barca at all costs.

Didn't Arsenal fans demand a midfield bully to compliment their possession players?

That's why they ended up with Granit Xhaka.

Please no.

Our failings are largely due to losing Gundogan who was potentially the man to fill the middle role with or without Silva, our lack of striking options without Jesus and that our play tends to be run down the edges to the byline with shit wing backs.

I don't think a lot needs to be done outside wing backs who can pass/cross with some accuracy.

We scored 5 at home against Monaco and beat Barca in the champs league and clearly outplayed Chelsea and Tottenham at home but for some dodgy calls.

The blades out for Pep are ridiculous in the extreme. I think the club and Pep knew this season would be difficult given the change of style and the players available.

It will take a few weeks next season to get new players up to speed but I expect to be blazing these fuckers by round 10.

Peps fault.... Why the f*ck did he tinker so much and go back to three CB's... Its been woeful each time he's tried it and of ALL the people to play at left wing back against a relegation team like Boro, Clichly who is absolutely sh*te in the attacking third. As sh*te as the players were especially in the first half Pep's really not helping with all this f*cking about with formations and line-ups. I'm hoping there's more to this like managing injuries and knocks otherwise its sensless & without so much tinkering and trying to be clever we could have been pushing Chelsea....

The reason why we failed so badly at Boro is that once again Pep rang the changes. When is he going to learn that playing the same players week in and week out, baring any injuries is the only way to enjoy a successful season. We are now in danger of slipping out of the top 4, due to Pep's instance of make 3 to 5 changes every game. At Boro he made 5 changes what for, when the team in the last game played quite well.

How many changes has he made during the season it now must be well over the 100 mark. As MCFC_4Heatons said if it wasn't for this constant swapping and changing of players, I have know doubt that we would be up there challenging Chelsea and the Spurs for the title.

It's not that simple mate.

You don't come close to winning the title if your players aren't good enough.

We've got the worst set of defenders in the top 7, with full backs who wouldn't get a game for Bournemouth. If you're in that situation you won't win the league even if you play the same team every week without getting a single injury.

You'll come to understand all this over the next couple of years when we're top of the league playing with players Pep brought in, who aren't mostly in their 30's.

For what it's worth and even with having half a team which is of the standard, we've just recorded the best away record in the entire history of the club. It's actually only the home draws which have stopped us challenging and those are nothing to do with the changes. A combination of poor refereeing, poor finishing and individual mistakes at the back have cost us there.

And the flak Pellegrini used to get for doing exactly that.

The unrealistic expectations are those who think we are the only 11 on the pitch and should batter everyone

You'll find HH Sheikh Mansour & Khaldoon had rather higher expectations MSB.

Are you attracted to 'average, ordinary & mediocre' ?

Just askin like cos there's a rabble out of town that might suit you.

Hope this helps.

You cannot play a back 3 with the lack of pace with Kolarov and Otamendi. Alex Garcia doesn't know how to pass the ball forward. We now have 4 cup finals left and he needs to pick his strongest possible team every game.
Pep came with huge hype and a massive unveiling and promised us magical football, and players under-performing would face his wrath. We have actually gone backwards on last seasons results. He has to swallow his pride as times and understand English football and to improve hugely next season.

If we've "actually gone backwards on last season's results" how come we've got 66 points which is the same as the number we finished on last season? Or are we going to lose the last four games?
Comparing results is only for pedantic loonies (like me) when trying to make a point, the only thing that matters is league position and we're pretty much in the same place we were last season: Miles behind the leaders and scrambling to achieve fourth place. We've not gone backwards; we're exactly where we were.

we had a semi final of the champions league last season, ok maybe performances have gone backwards and not results. Watching them them this season has been boring a lot of the time, I struggle to remember how many times we've been really entertained.
