He probably should have saved it, but I suspect Dortmund's manager will be angrier that the outfield players left Foden in 20 yards of space on the near side of a corner. It was defending that deserved to be punished, especially at that standard of football.
We tried exactly the same move from a short corner in the first half but Phil was quickly closed down before he could get a shot away.
Definitely a training ground move. Second half Dortmund too knackered to close down Phil.

They were certainly blowing by the end of the first half.

I'd assumed that was why he ran to Pep. It was something he'd/they'd spotted, worked at, and something he'd said at half time about it paying off and him trusting Phil when the time came.
