Borussia Dortmund (A) - CL QF | Post-Match Thread

probs should have saved it tbh , keeper was in good position , think it went under his hand ,maybe he was blocked off by players in front , id be disappointed with Ederson if he conceded that .Not complaining though Foden's a big game player :)
Nah, he did a Pickford. Got his fingers to it, but had poppadom hands.

Can't stop smiling, that was a very professional performance from City last night and arguably one of our best considering we were playing in the QF of the CL. Hopefully that win should give the whole team a major boost and give us the belief we can go further in the competition.

Loved viewing all the photos of the team celebrating after Phil's goal.

We need to stop the inhibited 20-odd minutes we seem to have in this competition.

Gundo admitted to us being edgy and I just don't see why, we have loads of experience now.

If you recall our exits, the games at Liverpool, Monaco and Spurs were all made uphill because of crazy openings or five minute periods?

Certainly at the elite level, you can't get away with it.

Interesting analogy from Neymar today re the Bayern result...

You can be chatting up a woman all night (dominate possession) but then a guy comes along at the end of the night and takes her away in five minutes.

Interesting account from one National paper suggesting we edged past Dortmund.
I checked again and yes we won both matches. We were level for 64 minutes, in front for 116 minutes (not counting the away goal rule to the former).
Surely edging is away goals or even extra time ?
We've been as critical as anyone of Pep in Europe, but this was a European masterclass, up there with Real Madrid last season. We kept the ball moving, wore them down, and hit them with an away goal at the exact right moment in the game, and if the penalty hadn't come there were gaps and pockets opening up all over the pitch. We never panicked, reduced them to a handful of chances, and made more ourselves.

Im totally buzzing today.
After x amount of years ive finally got the champs league bug and want to win the fucker

i mean in the premier league it did not pay off because we lost to leeds
It was worth losing to Leeds to beat Dortmund. The Leeds defeat was one of those freak defeats you get once or twice a season. It's easy to argue we wouldn't have lost if we'd gone full strength but if we'd done that it's just as easy to argue that we wouldn't have won last night - in the second half, which is hugely significant. We also now can go strong against Chelsea, another more important game, whereas if we'd gone full strength against Leeds we would have had to make wholesale changes against Chelsea. The really big guns like KDB and Gundo have also recently being playing for their countries. The physical demands on them would be too much if they were playing three games in 8 days and we would risk not only tiredness and form loss but injury. And that could kill our season.

Or maybe head it, but as you head it catch the ball and run the length of the pitch and throw it in the goal. Touched your head before the handball so cant be given as handball.
You know what, if a United or Liverpool player actually did that they would very likely award the goal (and probably not even go to VAR)
