Bournemouth (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

I know this was said tongue in cheek but I feel like this, I turn 65 in January and being an original 'plastic' fan from 67/68 (or Bakelite for those old enough to remember) it's dawned on me I've started to feel 'entitled'. Living miles away and not particularly well off, it's a rare treat to watch a live game but I couldn't even be arsed to watch MotD last night, felt totally depressed, especially as the tarquins lost. I'm extremely grateful for what Pep and his team have brought to our club, and Roberto and Pellers before him, so deep breaths, count my blessings and onto Tuesday night. But if Pep and the lads let the rags new messiah get one over on us on Tuesday I'm likely to take to my bed until 2025
Similar age and feelings. And if it didn't sound disrespectful I'd join you in bed! ( plationically to avoid the hype n media- am v happily wedded). But I know EXACTLY how you feel.

Mine was 1969 and there were still some bakelite switches around then!

It's Funny how blind people are ?? the doom and gloom on here after defeat

City was top of the league before kick-off hahaha, Some people think we were in the bottom 3 after a loss

First loss in the league for nearly 11 months, Aston Villa away December 2023 feels like a lifetime ago. That’s some achievement to go that period of time and not lose until yesterday. People need to get used to that we might actually lose a game of football once in while.

First post as a member!

Seems like there is a massive overreaction on here regarding yesterday’s result. Yes we played badly (apart from last 10 mins) and yes it has been coming for a few weeks.

However there must have been 4-5 players out there yesterday who were nowhere near 100% fit, and to add to that we are currently missing the literal best footballer on the planet in Rodders and also the best playmaker around in Kev. 2 key players so it’s no wonder we are not firing on all cylinders.

We are only in November plenty of games to come and hopefully it’s a bit of a kick up the bum in which we can come back strong from midweek against the glazers new puppet.

To be 2nd in the table 2 points behind Liverpool and 4 above Arsenal with the injury problems we have had so far this season I am not complaining at all!
The massive reaction is not because of the players it’s because of the shambolic recruitment strategy which we failed to show in the summer when even last season you could see players such as Rodri where fucked and running on fumes but all we where bothered about was net spending and looking good in the sales department I mean you don’t have to be ITK to know we’ve. Fucked up big style and now our aging squad has no cover .

Has Pep rang our most concerned fan to explain himself yet?

In all seriousness, we were poor and not many players came away with any credit. However, we all know by now that this isn't the worst time of the season to be out of form and in 2nd.

Get through this rough patch and get some key players back, then Pep will fine tune our winning machine for when it really matters.

I've Just got off the phone matey

he sounds pissed off that it's his turn to polish all the silverware this weekend, after all the cleaners we have reported in injured coming down with tennis elbow

Give over matey, Chelsea we are not

Overstocking a squad does not work and who in the right mind comes to sit on the bench if they are world-class

(shambolic recruitment strategy) your words, are you blind? Pep won more league titles than anybody else put together, Jose me 3 titles The rest 0 RESPECT

City looked stretched -- "like not enough butter spread over too much toast," to quote Bilbo -- but it's harsh to pin the blame on anybody.

It's also unfair to put it entirely down to City's performance. Fair play and huge props to Bournemouth, lads!

Compare the way they took the game to City yesterday against the approach Arsenal took last month. What a stark difference.

I always want City to win, sure. But at the end of the game yesterday, I felt like the better team won on the day. And City managed to give them a bit of a scare at the end, despite limitations...

Overall, despite a disappointing result for City, it was a genuine and entertaining contest! Nice to see a team not outrightly committed to the soul-sucking low block ... and, despite partisan allegiances, it's also nice to see such a positive approach get the result.

Fair play to Bournemouth. Unlucky City. Onto the next one. Hopefully legs and minds can survive this severely troublesome period of this long season.

Well it seemed to work for us in the centurion and domestic treble seasons and also even in our treble seasons we weren’t this short either . So how would you describe our recruitment strategy this season mean I understand pep wants to work with a small squad but fucking hell to not have cover for our only striker who I would imagine will get an injury in the next few weeks and also to not get cover for our best defensive mid who was already knackered by playing too many games well if not shambolic then fuck knows what it is .where have I slagged off pep and his title successes by the way ?

One of the reasons we got beat.
Fucking stupid decision, throwing someone in who hasn't trained for 3 weeks.
It's the Premier league not the Bury Sunday league

Exactly was his fitness level ?

Perhaps Pep knew more about that than your face value assessment - just think aloud.

Some egg in a different thread wanted Pep to explain himself after losing at Spurs in midweek.

It's embarrassing how short people's memories are on here.

We're all pissed off after a defeat but some 'fans' go too far.
Agreed OB.
Some fans just have this inane inability to express disappointment in a rational way.
I would love to see the demographics of those who display the worst critical traits.
I support this club, love this club and will never forget where we came from.
A bad result does not affect my life enough to go public with such animosity.
