Bournemouth (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

I don't think 22/23 and 23/24 City were this bad at this point of the season. It's mainly due to injuries but no matter the team we shouldn't be struggling to score.

Maybe keeping Rico for Tuesday.
Why play him in an all-but-meaningless game versus Spurs, then? I know we had some injury woes but play an academy player. We won the Carabou Cup four(five?) times on the trot.

I take NO NOTICE of rumours but you obviously do & use them to criticise Pep & the current situation (one loss & we’re still second).
Rodri - there are injuries which all players suffer from - & then there’s the dreaded ACL injury which keeps you out for the season. That could NOT have been planned for & as I’ve already said, no top player would come to us as a back up for Rodri. But they will now & it will then be up to Rodri to fight any new player to regain his place.
The rumours have been confirmed by numerous ITKS, it’s so obviously true, said players all weren’t starting or out for no reason at all. Rodris type of injury could never of been foreseen, but to go out and just get Gundogan when you know how much football he has played and how fragile we look without him and not let’s says go an trigger Bruno’s release clause is laughable like you have to ask what is the aim here? Relying on Pep to paper over the cracks?

The rumours of 3 players

plenty of city fans knew Rodri was going to be injured at some point, have to disagree with you there, the length of which we couldn’t of planned for. Like I said no plan in place. It doesn’t make me entitled when I point that out.

The club also knew they needed another player of that ilk, hence being prepared to pay upwards of 90 million for Declan Rice and then 12 months later they still had not sourced a replacement.

Thankfully I`ll not be joining some of you who appear to be ready for suicide watch. This was our first defeat in 33 games and sooner or later it was always going to happen that we lose a game.
Some of you are forgetting that we`re involved in a hard match in Portugal in 72 hours so maybe Pep decided that he would/could not make some major substitutions.
Just one of those days I`m afraid, so some of you need to take a grip and look at the broader picture.
Absolutely this.

Bollocks, maybe the lads are absolutely fucked. Wouldn’t surprise me if Akanji and Guardiol are carrying knocks. Pep probably had an eye on Sporting and might have to use players in that who need extra rest. Hopefully Pep looks at this though and thinks maybe it’s time for Gundogan to step back he’s added nothing since his return maybe put Nunez in there.
If the lads are effed now that doesn't bode well for the rest of the season. There will be little respite and in all likelihood the niggles will continue.

Yeh exactly, doesn’t even need to be a direct replacement position wise. Just someone with legs who can screen a defence ffs

Maybe because we didn’t have anyone else against Spurs??

We basically need a rebuild at the end of the season as a few players are coming to the end of their abilities/getting injured more often - Walker, Gundogan, De Bruyne immediately spring to mind, and if Pep is leaving too, we could be in a lot of shit next season.
If two of this new crop of kids make the first team regularly then we'll be lucky.
i dont think Pep would leave with the side needing some sort of rebuild, in his perfect world he would want to hand over the keys to the machine he's created being in tip top condition, maybe an indicator he's staying for the next phase, i'd like to think so, it could be the 115 is the reason we have not replaced the likes of Alvarez along with having a big window spend with it being another obstacle we have to navigate, a path of uncertainty untill were cleared

There’s no such thing as an ITK. Everyone was raving about Gundy’s resigning & what’s Bruno got to do with this? Is he good enough for us?
