Beating our 156 goal record is looking a bit of a tall order now.
I know what you're saying...but it's not the job of a team with significantly less resources to come out and play us at our game, and get pumped. Just like we did v Chelsea in 04/05 and mugged them 1-0 with a dodgy ish pen.
It's our job to break them down, which is what we did. And nearly always do.
Discussed it a little in the match thread but I really don't get the hate towards Bournemouth for not having a go. The last thing a team like Bournemouth needed after a 5-1 pasting was another hefty defeat at home to knock their confidence and potentially see their season Peter out. They were in with a chance up until the final whistle, only takes one cross, one slip, one pass, one set piece for them to get something out of that as opposed to the game being dead and buried after 20 minutes if they had attacked us. If theyd have got an injury corner and scored Howe would be lauded for a tactical masterclass, it's fine margins. Bournemouth play attacking football and they often get battered by the big teams because of it. They cant compete with the top 6 playing attacking football, the difference in quality is too vast so he's set up not to take a beating and hope for a chance, I can't fault him for that and I don't think their fans will either as they clearly won't have to watch such a defensive display every week, if anything I think Howe deserves some credit for doing something different. If those stats were city vs any of the other top 6 then they'd deserve all the critics that could be thrown at them but given the size of Bournemouth who aren't even beyond being dragged into a relegation scrap you can't blame them, it's upto us to break them down.
