Boyata

For a professional to not know the basics of playing full back is poor. He's a league 1 player at best. It wasn't just his defending but the amount of times he needed to make the overlap and attacks just came to an end.

You need to watch more football or try to understand the game a bit more if you thought he was promising until his red card

Cahill is a no for me, 8m yes but I wouldn't give them anything above 15m and I think boyata has better potential

Clearly so do you.
I don't think there is anywhere for me to go with this one is there!
Haha your fucked I just love that what a SHELLLLLL..

The lad tried his best - that was clear. He might be a natural CB being played out of position but his naïve defending, poor positioning, inept passing, lack of technical quality and stupid foul when already on a yellow means he should not play for us again. If Shay Facey isn't better than what we've seen from Boyata recently then I'd be amazed. Time for Pellegrini to see what a proper RB can do and integrate him into the first team squad asap.

He looked quality until that card at Arsenal. Ruined him and now he's a walking bag of nerves, I'd be willing to give him some more game time and see if he gets it out of his system but only at CB. He is one of our few homegrown players don't forget.

Great post,however although I agree with your assessment,he's gone backwards,out of contract end of June,then it's a goodbye,from me!

The problem is though that he didn't "look quality" until that card against Arsenal.

He body checked Drogba and could have had 2 reds/penalties against him in the Chelsea game that everyone harps on about. Mancio after the game said "if he thinks he is a good player after that game he should think again" or something to that effect.

He played in the two legs of the League Cup semis against the 'rags'. In the first leg he lost the plot in the final 30 minutes and would have been substituted if we hadn't used them all up. In the second leg he ducked under a cross inside the 6 yard box and Rooney met it and headed home. We lost on goal difference.

Can somebody give me some evidence of his being anything but sh*t even before the Arsenal red card - when he tackled their player from behind inside the 18 yard box in the 2nd minute ?

He was lucky to avoid a red car for a heavy challenge going through another Arse player again on the edge of the 18 yard box in the pre-season friendly. He got a yellow and some on here felt it was a good tackle !

-- Sun Jan 05, 2014 3:12 pm --

I also think he was playing centre back in some of the abovementioned games so he's not just a sh*t right back.

Ok

I've got about 30 more if you still need them.

Weird. I know he's not a full back and it isn't his best position - but I thought he was good yesterday. Yes, good. Not just "OK". Arguably he was better in the opposition's half than Clichy was IMO.

Not sure that would take much regarding Clichy's contributions, but I would be very willing to hear the argument Boyata was good at RB yesterday.

Disappointing as I've always wanted to see him make it with him being a youth product and all, thought he started off brightly yesterday then faded. His challenge to get sent-off was absolutely ridiculous though.
