Boyata

Some of the reaction on this thread is frankly ridiculous, I'm quite happy to say he's not good enough for where we are now, but he's not first choice, or second, or third or even fourth, and that is in his natural position at centre back.

He wasn't played there today though, he was played in a position he's never been very good at, and the fullback position under MP is now an attacking one, so he looks even worse compared to Zab. He was played there today to protect our only fit right back, that's not his fault, and for 85 minutes he did that, he wasn't "useless", he clearly wasn't great either, he was just an out of position, not in great form, and seriously lacking in match time, defender, who tried his best to fill the boots of a player who is probably the best right back in the world currently.

That's my perspective on his performance.

Having been booked for a challenge that wasn't a foul (50/50 at worst, as their lad had his hand round his neck as well), but he'd been given a warning previously, so should have been more cautious, and he was a complete idiot doing what he did for the second card, which he's acknowledged himself, and for that I won't make any excuses for him.

I felt a bit sorry for him today, 22 but like a little boy lost at times.
Even if i was a Roman Emperor i couldn't give him the thumb down.
This is exactly what I felt too. He's like a deer caught in the headlights with no idea what to do, and has a puppy look that makes me feel only pity for him.

Yesterday's game, I felt he was getting better in the attacking, went in the opposition box once or twice, but defensively he was weak. The Blackburn players knew he was the weak link in the team and continually targeted him. It can be seen by the number of throws they had, and he didn't know what to do whenever they made a run on that side. Whatever confidence he had left is probably gone with that red card. Wish we could transfer some of that ultra-confidence Negredo has, to him..

Whilst it was a stupid sending off and asking a centre half to play at right back is dodgy at the best of times, I'm really surprised that Pellers didn't sub him before he got sent off. It was an accident waiting to happen.

Move Milner to right back, it wasn't his finest 90 minutes yesterday either, and bring Navas on in Milners position. Or even Zab.

Poor decision.

we need cover for zab, truth is we should go and get one before Wednesday but we wont. so we risk zab or play jimmy. crazy.

Agree and surely Richards days are numbered unless he shows in the next 5 months that he can get fit and stay fit.

I for one hope this is the last time he is ever picked for the first team

he is clearly not good enough and I don't think he ever will be
City fans attitude to players trying to break into the first team has always been shit. Good luck with the rest of your career Dedryk whether it's with City or not.

He looked quality until that card at Arsenal. Ruined him and now he's a walking bag of nerves, I'd be willing to give him some more game time and see if he gets it out of his system but only at CB. He is one of our few homegrown players don't forget.

Great post,however although I agree with your assessment,he's gone backwards,out of contract end of June,then it's a goodbye,from me!

His performances up to that point were promising, and after that point were not. Prior to this he was seen by City fans as a very good prospect after a string of good performances against top opposition.

I can draw you some sort of a picture if you want me to explain this any clearer?

You need to watch more football or try to understand the game a bit more if you thought he was promising until his red card

He played at centre half at Bolton didn't he and was sent back early from his loan cos he wasn't upto their standards.

Nothing against the lad but he'll never make a premier league player as long as he has a hole in his arse.

Pretty much this. He showed slight promise but never improved from there. Best for both parties if he finds a club in the lower leagues more suited to him.
