I think the song is timeless and not copied by the away fans as the likes of Hey Jude are. I think we miss a trick not actually playing bluemoon prior to kick-off. Why we have to have the away team read out just 10 mins after it has been done is beyond me. As teams walk out announce the City team and then straight into Bluemoon without having to cut it short.
I seem to be in a minority, but I cringe when it gets played. Didn't like it as a kid when it was recorded/released, and detest it now. It's cheesy, trite and so dated.
Whilst we're praising Funky City here's a little montage that I made at the end of 2011 from publicly available photos.
A. we do sing the song on the terraces. A lot of people don't know the words so don't join in unfortunately.
B. We've got the club to play it before games, unfortunately (again) it seems the majority of people would prefer to rush another pint down them rather then get in their seats early to join in with it! :P
Blue moon @ kick off.
Hey Jude @ half time
Boys in Blue @ the end.
Not hard is it !!
We need to get Wonderwall going, Recognised worldwide would be proper anthem for us
