So apparently he could be Jailed for 6 months with some prominent presenters saying that's too lenient. He's obviously fucked his life up completely which there's no coming back from for a long time. Should he get a lengthy jail sentence though?

When you consider how many people avoid jail for violent offences I’d say probably not. Absolutely. Someone can be educated out of being a dickhead and actually do something useful in the meantime. As you say, get him on a ward. It could literally be the only positive he could take from it and actually turn what he did around for the better.
In the meantime however whatever happens to him has all been brought upon by himself. I’m sure he’s waking up this morning, his face plastered on the papers, wishing he could go back to this time last week and do things very differently.
