Breaking Bad

The greatest two minutes of television I've ever, ever seen. Don't watch if you've not seen up to Season 5 Episode 15.

When the music turns at 1:25, and the very distant bells start, as Gretchen begins to run Walt's name through the mud... I've watched it nearly 100 times and I still feel the hairs on my neck stand up.

The ultimate in script writing and tension building.

I think you'd have to go a long way to top the ending to season 4 with Hector Salamanca in the nursing home!

If you like the Wire, the Sopranos and Breaking Bad then try The Shield. Series 1-7 have all recently been made available on Netflix ....the story revolves around a bent drugs squad in LA. I think it edges the other 3 for me.

Cheers for the heads up. The Killing USA seasons 1-3 are on Netflix as well. I recommend that strongly. 4th and final series starts Aug 1st

Absolutely. But I felt that:

With Gus' death, the show had reached a point. It was over. It was a huge cathartic release and the loss of two fantastic characters (Gus & Hector), whereas the end of Granite State was the beginning of Walt's final moves. It had something else to come afterwards, arguably the most anticipated finale to any TV show in decades. It was coming, and that scene I posted set it up for Felina to knock it out of the park.

I thought:
season 1-2 - Not bad
Season 3-4 - Pretty good
Season 5 pt1 + pt2 - Amazingly Brilliant

Thought season 3-4 were the best IMO.

Season 1 and 2 are great, character building if you like.

Season 3-4 it gets very interesting and dark, it explodes.

Season 5 is excellent, but I personally felt part 2 was my least favourite of them all. Although that's not to say I thought it was bad, I didn't.

Can't believe the writers originally wrote Jesse out of the script after two episode appearances, only to change their minds and change the scripts. Excellent choice and bit of directing.

Yeah after watching breaking bad nothing will beat it, so everything you watch after is inferior, as you say, as good as TV will ever get.
