The '3pm blackout' rule prevents football matches from being shown on UK television between 14:45 and 17:15 on Saturdays.Could have just started the match a half hour earlier.

Another ridiculous ruling. The '3pm blackout' rule prevents football matches from being shown on UK television between 14:45 and 17:15 on Saturdays.
AgreedAnother ridiculous ruling.
Haven’t a clue. It’s definitely not been booed like that before. It’s crazy to me that people get worked up over tiny things like this.Has it always been announced on a big screen, and then subsequently shown as a highlight on Motd?
That's not loaded in any way just fyi, nor am I making any point with it. I genuinely never noticed it before and didn't know.
Booing from both sets of fans, are they taking the piss? Personally I don't have an issue with it, VAR checks, Arsenal's tactical time outs with a keeper injury take longer.
It's not bigotry to talk and have a discussion about things that are happening in the country.
That's the problem in society now. Way too partisan and not enough discussion.
Would Leeds fans have booo’d had three of their players been in need of the break?Haven’t a clue. It’s definitely not been booed like that before. It’s crazy to me that people get worked up over tiny things like this.
I was in the City support and live in Leeds. Just been reading the moronic posts by Leeds “Fans” on various Yorkshire Evening Post groups. Apparently it was pre arranged by Pep with the PL to pick Muslim players to enable the stoppage because we knew we would be under early pressure, Lol. It appears totally lost on them that Leeds as well as City had the team huddled around the coaches while it was going on. There wasn’t even a Muslin player in the Leeds team in need of breaking fast.Leeds fans and their bigoted booing....well I never...
Is it too much to ask for a bit of respect and humanity. In Leeds it clearly is.
They used to be one of the most racist supports back in the day. They could have black players in their team, but that wouldn't stop them doing monkey chants, or the zigger zagger song at opposing players. Leopards never change their spots, they are still the inbred, living in the past, bigoted Yorkshire cunts they always were.Would Leeds fans have booo’d had three of their players been in need of the break?
Thick as pig shit Yorkshire twats

Muslims observing Ramadan don’t have anything to eat or drink from sunrise to sunset, so the sooner they can take liquids on board, the better for them, especially if they’re running around, playing high intensity sports.I’d rather religion and politics was let out of football tbh. And that’s been the position for a while, until it doesn’t suit (FIFA peace prize, etc)
But this is an obvious welfare issue. Same as water breaks in very hot games, etc.
Announcing it on the big screen don’t really help but I understand why it was in a way (avoid accusations of tactical timeout).
Someone did post something interesting the other day - waiting until half time to break fast? Is it a requirement of the religion to break fast at the exact time of sundown or is waiting a bit permissible.
Fair points, except Sty chooses the kick-off times, so if those who disagree with players breaking fast during games want to direct their ire in any direction it should be to the main broadcaster of the game in this country. At a risk of being piled on here, I do think that there's a strong element of virtue signalling here. I personally have no religious faith and made the decision early in life that it wasn't for me, but don't mind anyone else practicing whatever religion they choose. Somebody mentioned the example of Michael Jones the All Blacks rugby player refusing to play on a Sunday, but they didn't re-arrange the fixtures to suit him did they ? He didn't play. I also disagree with the point that they couldn't wait an extra 30 minutes as nightfall would have occurred by then. Some religious practices of Christian, Judaism, Islam etc almost venture into Monty Python territory, but as I say - each to their own. All religions should be open to criticism and scrutiny. I live by one principle - treat others as you'd like to be treated yourself. If you don't want to be robbed, don't rob other people. If you don't want someone to sleep with your wife, don't sleep with other people's wives. As people have mentioned, it didn't make a massive difference given all the stoppages in the modern game, I'd just much prefer it if religion was kept out of football. Best wishes to all

No offence taken. This is, after all a forum where civilised debate can take place.Fair points, except Sty chooses the kick-off times, so if those who disagree with players breaking fast during games want to direct their ire in any direction it should be to the main broadcaster of the game in this country.
This isn’t a dig at you, @donkinho.
Well fucking said mars bar. This has been a thing for years but of course as this country spirals deeper and deeper into racist hysteria the usual types suddenly decide it’s ok to hurl abuse.
Fucking disgusting and what’s even more disgusting is Leeds haven’t even apologised and the media have barely mentioned it - like it’s totally fine for tens of thousands of people to hurl racist abuse at a handful of players.
It’s not like it even benefited anyone. Both teams had the opportunity for a little team talk and a drink so why does it matter?!
If I were one of the Muslim players I’d have told everyone to shove it up their arse and fucked off down the tunnel.
