Breaking records/stats thread

“Best” is measured with titles. Win this year and make it 4 out of 5 and we have a decent case.

Despite our current dominance though an unpalatable fact is that should the dippers win the league this year then over the last five years it’s 3-2 to us with one CL to them which would quash any notion of dominance sadly, especially in the eyes of the media

If you're measuring titles then there's the United side that won 5 in 6 from 95-2001 would still be ahead of this City side. They won the treble of course, and 3 FA Cups.

We need to win the CL to be called the best English side ever by the general public, even if that's a stupid metric to weigh things against.

I heard either in yesterday's commentary v Spurs or the One v Newcastle about Klopps Dominance domestically over here, Did make me laugh.

I can not keep up with them all.

I memorize the Records we break........then we go and break more :-)
And not only this, why just look at the recognition we're now getting from our chums in the media!

I mean, I happened to look at the Daily Fail's football page this morning to see our match report following yesterday's game. There was none but to be fair, The Fail had instead clearly pulled out all the stops and gone all out to mark our record-breaking achievements in 2021 with a special report on the mighty Blues, which was only preceded by 44 other stories! Come on you 'Agenda' boys and girls, admit you've been wrong all along.. that's straight in at No.45 with a bullet!

The piece on our record number of wins, away wins and goals scored during this calendar year has had to be taken down this afternoon but to be fair (again) there were some pressing news items requiring the space that the item on City was taking up.. and I for one will sleep that much sounder tonight knowing that, for example, Real Madrid took a plucky point in a 0-0 draw at Cadiz and that Robbie Savage's son is following in his father's illustrious footsteps in carving out a first-team career at United (..er, shurely shome mishtake?')

I bet our Red rivals across town and at the other end of the East Lancs are jealously spitting feathers with this sort of media coverage that City are now basking in the glow of.. long may it continue, says I!

Yep it’s quite absurd that Klopp is bracketed alongside Pep as though their achievements are comparable.

Aside from Pep’s massive lead in trophies won he’s also changed the way football is played and changed the role of certain positions.

Pep’s out on his own. Klopp is alongside Conte and Tuchel in the 2nd tier

I agree, but if we win the CL this season things change, especially given that Liverpool haven't won any domestic cups...

People might not want to acknowledge it because we have not won the Champions League but we have been the best team the Premier League has ever seen.

Better than the ‘Invincibles’ better than the scum treble team. Better than any Liverpool team from the 70s and 80s.

The consistency and domination over the last 5 years has been unparalleled and we were hardly a bad team under Mancini and Pellegrini.

The fact we didn’t even get to top gear against Leeds and Newcastle is frightening.
They where all basically 1 team championship wins, there wasn’t even a title race to speak of most years, with far fewer points needed to win them. The league is now far more competitive than it was back then, which makes our achievements far superior. In the rags & dips period of domination only Arsenal & maybe Everton in the mid eighties provided any kind of resistance, with the odd team providing an occasional surprise. And nobody played football the way we do, not even close.
