Brentford (A) | Post Match Thread

I don't know whether Phillips is a good player or not, frankly, but I think you're absolutely right, people completely lose their perspective. That he can't get into the best club side in the world at present — I say that coolly, level-headedly and unironically — does not mean that he's crap.
He's a very good player we know that because we wouldn't have bought him otherwise. What we don't know and couldn't know when we bought him is whether he has the football intelligence and mentallity to be a DM in a Pep team. Maybe over the summer we'll find out if Pep and the player believe he has that.

Disappointing to get beat but at least it made the Brentford managers season of beating the potential treble winners , he forgot to mention it was basically our second string team , but if he wants to live in a land of delusion along with their fans , then more power to their elbow.
Just glad the game is out of the way and any injury scares will be dealt with before the Rags on Saturday

I wasn’t basing my opinion on just this game tbh. I never thought Phillips was up to our standard I even posted as such before we signed him. Gomez was clearly a panic buy once cucurella fell through and is champ standard at best and palmer has constantly shown to have ability but also looks as though he is playing within himself. Personally I would like to see mcatee take his minutes next season and I firmly believe tommy Doyle is a better player than phillips (Albeit probably also below the standard we require)
Agree on Gomez, he's Championship level at best.

Palmer has the ability, just need the penny to drop.

Top level footy is as much about attitude, application, confidence and not just ability.

Hope he makes it with us.

Don’t know what interview you saw but on the one on Match of the Day he said the win at the Etihad was far more of an accomplishment for exactly the reason you state.
