Let's face it these last few weeks we've been bobbins

We've certainly been riding our luck, today it ran out.

A lot of people saying we need pace, Haaland,Foden, Alvarez, Grealish aren’t slow, pace is just useless against a packed defence and a parked bus. The main area we need pace is at the back to recover as we play so high up the pitch and Why Walker is so important

We were poor today but it is getting very rare to see a decent game at the Etihad as it’s just 10 behind the ball every game

It's not just the pace of individual players though is it? It's the pace with which we move the ball forwards. At times we spend eons moving the ball from side to side with the centre backs before passing it back to Eddie and the whole process begins again. Even when presented with opportunity of a break we do this. It is easy for teams to all get back and set up like this, they don't even have to be particularly athletic.

We need lightning fast wingers to put the fear of god into teans not plodding midfield play hoping to find a a way through and we also need to find cb pairing and fucking stick with it because every game is guessing game as to who is gonna start touch shit it if pisses players off who are not in the team as atm we look a shadow of title winners and it’s only haalands goals which have covered major cracks up . If Gomez is good enough for our team then we are in trouble and it’s alright everyone saying get jack on to change the game but when he plays he doesn’t change anything . If kdb is off the boil then we struggle simple as that

For me its not the chances we give away that bother me, its the lack of chances we created and in general the snails pace too safe football weve played too often this season.

This is our problem I think. Cancelo is a pretty average right back but at least can play there. But we have no left back at all. That is unacceptable. Bought another CB for some reason ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ . So when our defence is a very poor left back (who is really an average right back) Two decent CBs, and a decent CB playing as a rb when he really can’t do it.. we are asking from trouble. It affects our build up and our attack as well as obviously leading to ineffective defending. We can’t go a season expecting to get away with it as we have done.

You’re just in the moment. You judge these things at the end of a season. If we were reviewing the last 2 seasons at the same stage you’d be up in arms. The media was writing us off, bluemoon was writing us off.

Titles aren’t won in November. The real teams shine in the run in when the going gets tough. That’s when you find out how good a team really is. Not 3 months into the season, with injuries (Walker a huge loss), getting used to a new striker etc.

More than happy to pick up early June when we’re champions?

I’d be very happy to say that we’ve improved over the course of the full season if that ultimately proves to be the case. I’d be formulating an opinion based on the available evidence, just as I’m doing now. And I’d still be ‘in the moment’ when doing so.

Nobody is writing the team off, as you imply. My argument is that based on what I’ve seen so far, we’re behind where we should be, slightly below par in terms of performances and a bit below last season when you consider that we’ve added Haaland to the team. I’ve also outlined a couple of concerns as to why we may not be able to assume a significant improvement in our form in the second half of the season.

Are you suggesting that no one should offer or formulate an opinion as to how we are playing until the very end of the season? If someone asks you how we are playing, how certain players are performing or simply what you thought of the match today, do you just tell them to come back in June? Would be a bit odd if you did.

Athough most were below even average today I thought LaBERTe was let down by Akanji in particular.

I didn’t say that. It’s just an observation on the performances lately. Hopefully this break will give Pep some time to think how we can adapt and get the best out of him playing these teams that put 10 players behind the ball. When we did break forward Brentford did an admirable job in cutting out the supply from Kev. Other teams will look at that and try to copy it.
