Brian Kidd - How long at City?

Alan Oakes

Now there's a name to conjure with. Oakes should have gone to Mexico. There's an argument to be made that he was the most consistent performer in that team. Not the most brilliant (obviously), not necessarily the one with the most skill. But the most consistent. Can't help wondering whether, if Oakes had been there and been brought on for that famous Charlton substitution, he wouldn't have shored up the defence and had a decisive effect on the result. Took me years and years to get over that match. Not sure that I am over it fully, even today.

That substution pissed me off so much Colin was blamed for England's downfall my brother who is on here didn't like (understatement) the fact that I supported Scotland till 1990 because of it.

Brian Kidd’s Birthday tomorrow, it will be 53 years to the day he won the old European Cup on his 19th birthday scoring a goal into the bargain, it would be a great birthday present for him to win it again.

A fitting birthday present for the legend that is Brian Kidd.

Wonderful man and a great player for us, anyone think it could be his last game on the bench? Again a great game to bow out on, he is looking his age recently.
