Brian Kidd....Should we be concerned?

I know Mancini has just been appointed and we all want him to be a resounding success. However, is the appointment of Brian Kidd not a concern? Mancini had never met Kidd until the last few days, this is not someone he has worked with before. Would Mancini not prefer to have someone he has developed a working relationship in the past as opposed to a stranger? I dont know anything about Kidd other than he is held with high regard as a coach. However I find it hard to believe that Mancini would have picked Kidd above anyone else to be his assistant. Kidd was not involved in first team affairs under Hughes and then is promoted to assistant coach as soon as Hughes and co leave, something about that doesn't sit right. Will this have a bearing on the players attitudes towards Kidd? I've been impressed by Mancini, he kept cool in THAT press conference and the early reports of his attitude towards training are encouraging, but I wonder if the club are doing him any favours when it comes to the choice of assitant manager, what do you think?
 
I think one of the reasons it didnt work out for Hughes was that his management team were not up to the standard that was needed at City! It worked at Wales and Blackburn but this is a different kettle of fish!

It all fits with my theory that they've had to move quickly as Hughes left them no option after a stand-off.

However I've long admired Kidd as a coach and thought we should have had him a long time ago. He's experienced, knows the Premiership and he's a coach not a manager. But I don't believe for one minute that he's Mancini's choice.
 
Mancini already has brought in a trusted coach who he has worked with before. I think the Kidd appointment is more along the lines of having a face familiar with English football, much like Ancelotti has Wilkins or Mourinho/Zola with Steve Clarke.

Thats fair enough having someone familiar to English football in your coaching staff, but to make them assistant manager when you don't even know them, I'm not sure....We all want Mancini to be a success, just wondering if its fair on him to have an assistant he doesn't even know?
 
We have had too many managers with assistants who were their best mates. It does not work. Mancini can treat Kidd and the coaching staff as whet they are, subordinates who are expected to be able to do their jobs. This way unlike the last regime if it becomes clear that they cannot, then we recruit someone who can.

Make no mistake, Fausto Salsano is the "real" assistant manager.
 
i would say that kidd is going to be the "ever present" in case of further manager changes !
so that theres as little as posibble disruption next time
hes easily able to take charge of the big egos and maybe more than one firm hand is needed with them anyway?
