Brian Kidd....Should we be concerned?

I think one of the reasons it didnt work out for Hughes was that his management team were not up to the standard that was needed at City! It worked at Wales and Blackburn but this is a different kettle of fish!

thats what happens when you only pick local people

Mancini already has brought in a trusted coach who he has worked with before. I think the Kidd appointment is more along the lines of having a face familiar with English football, much like Ancelotti has Wilkins or Mourinho/Zola with Steve Clarke.
Also Capello as Pearce as his assistant

Lets not forget Mancini have brought his entire team that worked with him at inter over from Italy. Plus Svens fitness coach who has worked at city already (and I for one remember how much better our fitness levels were particualrly towards the end of games under sven we won alot of points in the last 10 minutes)

So he already has all of "his people" and I gurantee you they are far superior to those that Hughes had behind him.

We has to have an english interface at the club it just doesnt work otherwise - see Cappelo, Ancelotu, Morinho etc etc. I imagine Mancini is very happy the club have picked Kidd out for him as he is well known for being an excellent coach and as obviously has a huge amount of experience of the prem league.

Its widely assumed that Pompey only stayed up last season because they brought Kidd on as head coach.

I'd be more worried if Kidd wasn't there and there was nobody to tell/inform Mancini about the players he may not know a lot about.

tell me alera, how do you guarantee this for us?

what will we get as compensation if you are wrong?

The posts amaze me, Kiddo was at leeds during the freefall, steered sheff utd to relegation, and has helped portsmouth fall down the league.

This is not intended as criticism of Kiddo, I like everyone else do not really know the quality of his work. The important points though are :

1: He is really good enough to be coaching a team aiming for thetop 4.
2: Why do people post about him being such an accomplished coach, surely if this were so his career, would not of been so disapointing
3: Is it a case of being in the right place at the right time, and when the dust settles he will be shuffled sideways.

We have had too many managers with assistants who were their best mates. It does not work. Mancini can treat Kidd and the coaching staff as whet they are, subordinates who are expected to be able to do their jobs. This way unlike the last regime if it becomes clear that they cannot, then we recruit someone who can.

Imagine how unproductive everyones work would be if you only employed your mates!
