Brian Kidd....Should we be concerned?

Prestwich Blue, you say you have long admired Kidd as a Coach, Have you watched him work ?
Is it his deep analsis of the game, tactical awareness, Just wondered where the long admiration came from?

Good points, I was just wondering if it was fair on Mancini to have someone he may not have chosen himself. Kidd is very experienced though and knows the premier leage so hopefully it'll work well.

I think one of the reasons it didnt work out for Hughes was that his management team were not up to the standard that was needed at City! It worked at Wales and Blackburn but this is a different kettle of fish!

Hughes was told last season that he needed to appoint an experienced european coach to his back room team to improve tactics - however he pushed against that and stuck with his existing team. I think this has been a major factor in his removal - he simply wasn't getting the support that was needed tactically move the team forwards.

Do you not think the board and owner would bend over back-wards to get Mancini signed up? Do you think they would have veto'd the assistant manager appointment if Mancini wanted some one else? Potentially putting the whole appointment in danger?
I think Mancini wanted an English Assistant Manager, and you know you can have two Assistant Managers...

Cant imagine Kidds role as much more than an advisor to RM, give him a bit of background about the players, the upcoming fixtures, the Prem in general.

Even if it is more, not concerned in the slightest, he had his most successful days as an assistant.

It's just a bloody job title. When Mancini brings in his own guys I'm sure he will be consulting them in private rather than Kidd but at the end of the day Kidd will have the title of Assistant Manager and will sit in the dugout next to him putting his 2 pence worth in when it's needed.

I think Kidd is a good appoinment myself as he knows the prem inside and out. So with Mancini having no experience at all of the prem he is going to need as much info as possible so he can hit the ground running, that for me is where Kidd comes into play.
also with kidd being a collyhurst lad and mancini a cafe owner from ancoats i'm sure they'll get on famously!!!
