Brian Kidd

Said it before countless times that as soon as he retires he needs to get the book written.

Probably second only to Gary James in his knowledge of Manchester football. Utter legend.

Struck me yesterday, as i saw a picture of Kiddo posing next to the trophy, that he was there when the rags were just beginning to progress through the phase that we are at this moment going through.
Knows how to pick a winning horse does our Kiddo.
Or doesn't get enough credit for the work he does? By all reports he was responsible for a lot of coaching at the rags and I'd say Pellegrini might have found it harder to adjust to the PL without his knowledge of the league, Bobby too.

A few of us had the privilege of meeting him after the Dortmund game a couple of seasons back. A genuinely top bloke who clocked we were City fans at the hotel and came over to us. He told us how appreciated it was that we had gone over there to support the blues and how he realised that it isn't easy for working class lads to be able to afford to go.
However, he was bang on the money with the direction the club wanted to go. And when one of us put the line out 'Been supporting the blues years Kiddo and just glad to be playing at this level', he batted straight back that we have to stop thinking like that and went into detail of the ambition of the club.
Some seem to think of him as just a silly old mascot sat on the bench. But deffo a million miles more switched on than people give him credit for!

Brian Kidd is and was a Blue. Once a Blue, Always a Blue.

Don't know if the club still have this in their philosophy but I remember it being said about ex-players. 'There's always a job for them at the club'. Meaning if you serve the club well, we don't forget and the doors are always open. If he wants to stay, then he stays regardless of what people think he does or doesn't do.

I bet Kidd had a word with Pellers at the start of the season with that away form and can guarantee he's give as much info over to the new staff, that will stand em in good stead for the seasons to come. Knowledge and experience counts, he's got both. Keep him

A few of us had a cup of tea with him in Dublin a few years back after the supercup game and he was a first class gentleman.

If anyone in football is as humble and dignified as him, I've yet to see them.

City need to keep as many links with the past as they possibly can ... it's more important now that we're owned by the Sheikh than it ever was.

And unfortunately, fantastic players that Silva, Aguero and Toure are, none of them are going to keep working at the Etihad (as ambassadors or matchday hospitality, etc) once their careers with us end. Not sure who the Mike Summerbees / Ian Brightwells / Paul Lake (When he was with us) of the future are going to be ?

Thanks for the mention. I'm deeply flattered to even appear in a thread about Brian Kidd, so thanks. Wonder if he'll end up winning more titles than Fergie during his career?

Kiddo was one of my 70s heroes and back in those days I never even contemplated that he may once have been a hero at OT - he was a Blue through and through to me. As you say, and the word gets bandied around too much, he's a legend - and a quiet unassuming one at that.

Hart, Zabaleta, Kompany

Where's the MEN campaign to get Kiddo recognition for his services to Manchester (and surrounding area) football? You look at some of the twats who get awards (Beckham etc) and yet here is a man who has made a huge contribution to this City and shows no sign of slowing down.

Played for both sides, coached both sides to league titles and numerous other trophies. Surely no one is a bigger legend in Manchester football?

Sir Brian!
