Brighton (A) - Post Match Thread.

Silva to Aguero. Will be a sad day when we don't hear those words. Some clown on rawk actually said - great to see age has finally caught up with David Silva based on yesterday's performance!

That pass to Kun was the epitome of flawlessness.

Didn't think it was Spanish Dave's best game, especially early on, but his stats do make your Scouse friend look like a Ronald McDonald wannabe:

101 passes attempted
94 completed
93.1% accuracy
5 chances created
1 assist

Said the same, by far from his best game but reading some of the comments on here yesterday you'd think he'd turned into Bebe.
I read he gave away the ball constantly, didn't play on the front foot all game and created nothing. I'd like to think those same posters would feel a bit foolish after seeing those stats but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Why do people keep saying Brighton played 10 behind the ball?

It was 11 behind the ball most often, and they all lined up in their own final third frequently for decent spells.

Do you actually need someone to paste a link to a replay? I'm sure you can find one! It was offside. Correct decision.

I've already said that I'm not that bothered and I've not said he was onside. He probably was off but I wasn't 100% convinced by what I saw. If you have a freeze frame with a line drawn on it, feel free to post it.

It's one of the reasons I like stats and often call bollocks on the idea that people only need their eyes :-) If you are Pep Guardiola, who has a special gift, you probably don't need stats but mere humans...

An awesome performance - 82% possession, totally dominated the game. This is what will happen if teams park the bus against us - an inevitable win.

Another observation...

Just how good is Bernardo Silva? He's simply amazing.

Off the ball he is contently moving into open spaces. On the ball his control is second to none. Even when passes to him are way too fast or are somewhat out of reach, Bernardo effortlessly brings the ball under control and makes an intelligent pass.

I mean this as a huge compliment - Bernardo Silva is Nasri-esque moving into open spaces. He's far better at this than anyone in our squad at present.

Bernardo is going to force his way into our starting lineup - and may well be our best player this season and for seasons to come.
