Brighton (A) | Post-Match Thread

This will be the blueprint next season. Put it this way, you can either defend deep and get away with a narrow but certain defeat or you can target certain players, hope to avoid a red card and just kick the shit out of us to unsettle us. They did that last night and the ref and var allowed it

This was sent to me by a Brighton fan I know which was taken from one of their forums, just shows how each fan views a game.

Manchester City Team

I’m a big fan of them as a team - or was. Great football, probably the best in the world, work hard etc etc - but I noticed the following tonight:

Arrogance of their player not leaving the pitch and them all moaning at the ref for the sending off and thinking that if they stand there they’ll influence the decision.

Pep on at the 4th official

Several screams and swan dives

More moaning at the ref

They keeper literally time wasting from 20 mins - best team in world 10 men or not?

Moaning for each goal at the ref

The ref giving them the big 6 bias especially no yellow for Silvas foul in the first half when we broke

Foden needlessly giving it the big one to the crowd after toe punting the ball in

Pep at full time - hissy fit at everyone - storm down tunnel - comes back on and aggressively shakes every BHA players hand looking for a reaction, same with ref and more moaning (not a clue why as they got most of the decisions as usual), sulks down tunnel again, has to come out for interview and leans / eats a sound microphone thing - oddball.

Very classless after we gave them a guard of honour and were so good to them when they won the league 2 years ago.

Sore losers, petty, overpaid muppets.

I guess Pep, like Klopp won’t be purring over how good the Albion are - as they LOST to little old Brighton!
Agree about Bernardo not getting a yellow for his foul but then Attwell was as incompetent as it gets.

All this clear and obvious shite (I don't to this day know how that criteria works) needs to be fucked off.
Either VAR has a final say on all major decisions or it needs to be binned.
The way it was introduced and communicated, including the "clear and obvious", line has been part of the problem if you ask me. I think a major problem last night was that the ref wasn't asked to take a look at it on the screen, so the VAR couldn't intervene because he'd seen it and there was no "clear and obvious" mistake, but in both the red card and penalty decision that really means fuck all. I've said it before, but the rules of the game are not designed for the crystal clear definitions of technology, and it is seriously impacting people's enjoyment. I was an advocate when it came in, but I'd much rather take my chances with a ref having a bad one and taking my chances that they even out over a season.

I thought Brighton and their fans gave us a very good standing ovation onto the pitch last night, not sure what some on here are going on about? Away fans will always boo during a game, we shouldn't be so sensitive, we've won the bloody league again, we have some of the best players in the world and might win the CL in a week and a half time.
What do people expect from other fans?.....bowing very time we are on the ball? Get real and lose that Utd sense of entitlement of how dare other teams not just lie down and admire us on the pitch.
All this horrendous vitriol directed towards Brighton & their fans about some ill perceived injustice......some sound like Liverpool supporters on here.
No problem with Brighton fans enjoying a comeback win against the Champions. Why shouldn't they enjoy it and make life uncomfortable for our players if it helps their team ? That's what home advantage is all about.
I think we were undone by a series of debatable decisions from the ref and VAR, poor defending and a colossal fuck up by Rodri. Plus the sucking up commentary from BT made it a difficult watch - they should remember CIty fans subscribe to their channel too and expect some level of impartiality. Same as WBA last Sunday when they were going mental over the Dippers.

Up until kick-off, I wasn't too arsed about last nights game, the tittle was won, Brighton play decent football normally and they were safe, just an end of season game with nothing to play for, get a few minutes in the legs and most importantly no injuries, and for Brighton fans to get a chance to see their team in the flesh.
Come full time, I was friggin fewming, I don't mind getting beat, being of a certain age you could say I'm used to it. That bellend of a referee should be investigated, and I'm being deadly serious when I say investigated, that was one of the most blatant cases of cheating I have witnessed from an official and believe me I've seen plenty. He was helped and assisted by the slug John moss who has form and history with his decisions against us.
Never a red card, no foul on bernie when running through, clear red on gundo but according to Walton it wasn't coz his leg was bent, not as bent as him but bent all the same, they were given carte blanche to do whatever they wanted knowing they were immune from any form of punishment.
I quite liked Potter before yesterday but it turns out he's just a slimmed down fat Sam, as for there small time fans, I hope they get a massive dose of cat aids and there shitty nothing club sinks back into the lower leagues where they deserve to be.

I’ve always been a fan on focusing on things you can control, so my focus was on a really sloppy performance by Rodri and a shockingly inept defensive display by Garcia. Garcia is leaving, thank fuck, so not going to waste any time on him, but with the team cruising, even with ten men, and having just gone 2-0 ahead with their fans feeling deflated, absolutely criminal to hand them a way back by needlessly giving the ball away in our final third. Not the first time Rodri has done this, I’d be amazed if he starts the Champs league final.
