Brighton (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

The refs are inconsistent, but the fact remains that Akanji was a clear yellow
But it's not just different refs being inconsistent in different matches is it, it's the same ref being inconsistent in the same match. That just isn't acceptable at all.

If Akanji's is a yellow then there ought to have been at least three yellows today for defenders pulling back attackers in promising positions.

Today he applied the laws differently whenever it suited him

Great three points, attacking midfield needs sorting. Foden and Bernardo not doing enough for me, I'd be tempted to start Grealish in that central attacking role with Foden on the right Doku on the left

Ortega distribution today was woeful.
Facts. If he plays again, he needs to know his limitations and NOT attempt optimistic long passes that are won by opposition fullbacks.

The quality drop off from Ederson is just stark.

We had a few scares in that second half but in the main it was a decent performance from us despite the ref giving Brighton extra encouragment (which they didn't need). Rodri's booking was needless but before hand Milner should have also been booked and a few similar incidents from their players to the one that got Akanji his second yellow that was overlooked.

The first 45 minutes was probably the most complete half of football we've played so far this season.

It's a shame we let them back in it but the main thing is we got the three points.

Thought we were on a bit of a suicide mission in the 2nd half. Really let Brighton take the game to us.
Still, a win is a win. Not the most convincing but a much needed 3 points.
Why in the last 2 home games second half, we have sat deep as fuck and allowed teams to dictate the game, we play like that against a top side and we lose, sort it Pep.
