Brighton & Hove Albion (A) | Post Match Thread

The next derby could be El sackio, Amorim is on dodgy ground if we batter them the knives will be out but likewise if we roll over then questions will have to be asked about Pep. Like everyone we all appreciate what he’s done but he comes out with the same old shit very press conference, he said he’s not changing his philosophy well we’ve slagged Amorim off for not playing a style to suit the players he’s got, the same could be said of Pep, we are levels off what he needs in fact I’d say worse than his first season. Anyone expecting anything different next week is sadly mistaken all the players will not be back until a few days before the derby and I guarantee Stones and Rodri come back with knocks to rule them out, both those players should be nowhere near international games at this time anyway.
Yep, there will be at least one injury from the international break and a betting man would put money on Stones or Rodri

It wasnt a tactical masterpiece he basically saw City flagging, no preseason, had nothing to loose so he put 4 subs on fresh legs and got lucky, credit to him for trying something, with the pen. Pep made the strangest decision to put Rico on and not Nico maybe a slip of the pen on the first letter :-D We then lost control and Kush got a knock leaving no pace to recover from dare I say it? another John Stones cock up, got away with one in the first half, looks a shadow of his former self maybe its lack of games?

Brighton manager did exactly the same last season, changed half is team through subs when he saw City running out of gas. Same score as well

Watch it again he had has arm up before the player even shot it’s totally inexcusable
Well that is still within a blink time. Like in car accidents people protect their face before the real contact point as the crash is inevitably happening.

I do wonder what all those criticising him would have done I guess taken it in the head
I can remember long before VAR it was accepted that a player was in his rights to protect himself same as holding the bollocks

It's a football mate, it's not a bullet. Players are (at the moment) allowed to head the ball

Kind of what defenders are expected to do. You know proper ones like Xabba and Kompany. From what i remember Nunes had his hands up from the start. Not on his own though in the drop off in standards. We’ve got a slow centre half deciding to just jog back for the 2nd goal

the ball in the face is hardly going to do serious damage is it. Any pro who is scared of the ball hitting them in the face from short distance shouldn't be a defender. Fucking big fairy Nunes.

There would've been a possibility he wouldn't have been penalised if his arm was going up to protect his face but (as has been mentioned) it ws already above his head so was going downwards to protect the face. Makes it less natural and easier to penalise.

A famous knight once said "it could have killed him" In all serious its a natural reaction I guess you take it in the face and suppress your reactions

There is a significant difference between heading a ball and a shot hitting you in the face / head from a few yards Anyhow its a natural reaction to protect your face with your arm

Thought John Stones was thrown in at the deep end, having to defend with Nunes, Ait Nouri and Koush. All though I think Koush will come good, there was more experience on the bench. Nunes is NOT a full back and has been given a job he is not built for. Ait Nouri was diabolical and was the worst player on the pitch, he also travels far too high up the pitch too soon. And when you put into the mix that Stones has hardly played for two seasons. I just thought this might be a tough day.

We seem to forget the lack of pre season for the players at times and it is showing.

People wanting Pep sacked, really? Is this what we have become? If Pep goes now what will happen? Do we become like them lot over in Trafford bouncing from manager to manager in the hope of past success?

We do not have a defined right to win every game, maybe Pep’s best years are behind him - they probably are but I’d rather he be given time to at least get us into decent shape over the next year and have a planned transition to exit rather than sack him now and all hell break lose.

We are 3 games into a season, 3! The media has us all so whipped up about things that happen in such a short shape of time these days and don’t wait for things to pan out. Let’s see where we are in 10/15 games time, and if we are shit then - well we have been through it before and it is part of the fun being a blue.
No , but we do have a right to see ten players try and look half interested rather than which golf course they’re playing at on Monday.

Mental attitude of the squad is fucked

The troubling thing was, that the 2nd half start was dismal, we were losing control in the middle, which carried on. I would’ve put Gonzales on for Marmoush & left Haaland up, pushing Reijnders further forward.
The first goal was just errors from 2 of our error prone players, totally avoidable.
Khusanov just needed to stay in his feet, & Nunes needs to learn from Dias about keeping arms out of the way.
I’m sure Pep gave his version of the hairdryer treatment after the game.
Again, it’s all about taking chances, we had enough to finish Brighton off in the first half.
Mistake was starting with Bernardo instead of Nico then compounded by bring Rico on and not Nico but in general agreed he got his subs wrong

his arm was up in the air like a ballet dancer. Just confirms he's not a natural defender. Needs dropping or playing anywhere that minimises his time spent in the penalty area.

Not a defender tho is he. Same as Rico. But we persist! I can’t really slag players off being constantly asked to play out of position. You’d hope they’d be better but it’s not as easy as that
