Brighton post match thread

Potter is certainly blowing the theory, that you can only play a certain way, because of the players you have.
More practice they'll be even better.

That's why I hate the likes of Dyche and his bullshit. It's just laziness. Trot out your excuses, "We have to be physical, compete, win the turnovers" blah blah blah. Try playing football you dinosaur!

Thank you for the responses to my question.
Your analysis has given me hope.
It's encouraging.... particularly as there has been a great debate about the sacking of Chris Hughton, arguably our best ever manager.
Now I have seen the goals, I must say it was clearly a master class in finishing and I appreciate the difference in quality of the attacking threat......
All the best to you for the remainder of the season, always excepting at the Amex of course.

One of those war correspondents that know their time on this earth is abnormally limited so decide to just go for everything, consequences be damned.
Was at the game yesterday and must admit I was impressed with Brighton. They were neat n tidy and looked pretty solid. I know they shipped 4 goals but they didn't shut up shop and had a go.. Made a game of it.. I still get nervous when we're 2 up.. Apparently cityitus has no known cure.. Ha!

I think you might be interested in what Pep Guardiola had to say about your team rather more than what I'm going to say. He was very complimentary...

I was interested to see how Potter is changing your approach and I thought your team was very neat and tidy and technically accomplished. Particularly impressive was the way you tried to play the ball out from the back and the determination to persist even under quite intensive pressing from us. Conceding after 90 seconds or thereabouts didn't help but throughout the first half your lads were bright and lively and stayed in the game. I don't think we were at our best but we were good enough. Giving away a second just before half time obviously made your task much more difficult and the second half was more of an exercise in damage limitation.

I respected Chris Hughton a great deal and thought he was unfortunate to lose his job, though I could understand why the club took the decision. Yesterday it was clear that the club is no longer interested in backs-to-the-wall, try to finish in 17th place football and has appointed a man who wants to play more expansive, positive football and considering how little time he's had the signs are good. You won't be playing City every week!

By the way, I presume Murray was on the bench and only came on after an hour because of his age? It was a positive substitution anyway.
Thank you for this.
Yes, Murray is clearly often going to be used as a 'supersub' by Potter, which may be a bit frustrating for him as he is about 7 goals away from becoming the Albion's all-time top scorer; nowhere near Aguero's record of course.......

Just hoping and praying that Emeric's injury is nothing worse than a bad sprain like Kevin's a few years ago or a meniscus minor tear (can be repaired and back in action within weeks). Looked bad though with his knee flexing in the most unnatural position due to a heavy collision. Why always us ?
True... it didn't look good.
As you say, let's hope it's minor and he's back soon!

The bit of skill from the Brighton 33 when he brought the ball down and went by Segio in the first half was class.
South Stand and Colin Bell applauded.
Sergio as well.

Hopefully they don’t go the way of Derby County because of it!
