Definitely. There is little difference these days with the improvement in TVs, coverage, streaming etcetera to being at the game. In fact with the prices, cost and hassle of travel and sanitisation in the grounds, rules etcetera for many it is more trouble than it's worth. Clubs, especially ours, have to ask why when we are in the most successful period in our history and are playing some great football in the process, we still don't sell out. I know people will jump on this but we don't, watch the footage tonight, there will be plenty of empty seats, mine being one of them. I've had my seat up for sale but had an email 30 minutes ago saying it hasn't sold. These are the hard unpalatable facts and the club should be asking why.
The club, council, transport companies etc go out of their way to make going to the match as much of a rip off pain in the arse and treat fans as badly as is possible. It’s insane.
I’ve said this before but I’ve worked in the music and events industry for a long time. If I treated fans and gig goers the way football fans are treated I’d be front page news and sacked / out of business in about a week.
