Bring the Noise

Around me in 115 I’d say it’s 50% SC holders who make some decent noise. The other 50% is city fans who have bought for that game and usually know some of the songs but a large mix as well of foreign tourists who don’t have a clue about singing and atmosphere or empty seats when it’s not a big game.

it confuse me also mate, you can imagine we try to keep on top of the ticket situation in 115 to see if we can get more singers in. But our contacts are given a spreadsheet and spare seats or season cards hardly show up ! I think the problem is there are different agents plus our ticket office in charge of match ticket sales, so nobody knows what is where these days, very frustrating.

Im just keeping fingers crossed that when safestand comes in and god knows where or when, we get another time frame and the passionate fans wanting to sing snap them up in our time frame given then nobody else gets a chance to go in.

Back in the day ( here I go again) Didn't need a singing section or organised groups ,any one & every one just belted out songs.Kippax.North Stand.Platt Lane all started songs .Sometimes like now ,all would join in,some would ,join in or none wold join in. Some atmospheres at Maine Road were eletrick some were ok some were crap so don't think a lot has changed except people are getting older and less enclosed to stand and sing for long periods

I was there in the kippax days 1979 first season. There have been two major factors. Back in those days season card holders took over a very small percentage in pre sold tickets, so you could get a ticket anywhere you wanted for any game. ( hence when you watch highlights of old games you see city fans at away games in the villa end for example, not just one or two but literally 100 or so bunched up )But now tickets are all pre sold and seated so fans are stuck where they are rather than joining friends. Back in the old days if I so one of my mates I would say to him "I will come and watch the game in platt lane with you next week". Nowadays you see an old friend and you are generally three tiers away and cant do anything about it.

Then all seater stadiums came in and flattened the passion as people acted more reserved for a game.

You are right it does sound daft saying singing section, but we have got that spread out and separated as fans that it is the only way to get singers back together grouped up.

You doing a great job and if it was not for you and your group it would be alot worse

No excuses for tomorrow now.

I keep hearing how we only really sing when we are behind or if there’s a challenge.

Good opponents, behind the scousers, media bashing we have had, lots away fans.

All the reasons people say why we can’t sing aren’t there tomorrow. All the people sat or stood there miserable as anything get singing !!

Well we have to go into every game with the mentality that we are behind, we’re 9 points behind in the table.

But this title race is far from over!

Liverpool FC are proper league title bottle jobs and if any single City fan thinks this title race is over already they don’t understand football.

But we have to get behind the lads at every opportunity to change this title race again!

If we could control the singing at 1894 as much as some fans think we can we would have the most intimidating stadium in the PL. But we cant, every direction within our rights has been tried. But on the match day it is down to the fans, if they don't want it on that particular day the singing doesn't get off the ground. You cant force fans to sing or what songs to sing.

We aren't a bunch of 300 fans in 115 block, as much as we try to get fans to group collectively at home games it doesn't happen.

It is easy from the outside to believe that all you need to do is drum, or group up, or megaphone, or what ever idea goes around, even myself when I started with the group 6 or 7 years ago I thought within 12 months the place would be rocking by making a few changes. But just as you cant make fans stay until the end of the game, you cant make fans sing. Believe me we know what it takes, but you cant force it.

Danny, you are more than welcome to come and have a chat, help out, suggest ideas. Maybe suggest a few ideas on here in reply then I can explained how we have tried it or are restricted by the club / security.

Even our displays are restricted, we have ideas but cant always carry them out. As jrb said on the above post we had an exciting display planned for the derby game, but for some reason which is beyond 1894's control it has been put on hold. And now with time running out and needing to buy & plan at least 3-4 weeks ahead the display is in doubt.
From reading some of the comments after this the biggest problem are obviously tourists being put in 115 who are almost always not going to do f*** all, if I had my way I would ban tourists but that’s not gonna happen. it would make sense if at least 115 is season tickets only although would want that across the whole south stand imo. I know I’m stating the obvious but I don’t know if the club knows or just won’t do it for whatever reason.

Also think a good idea would be to get rid of seat numbers so u can stand where u want and if u want to get a good spot u get in early and that would help the atmosphere build. My dad used to tell me how the kippax was full up an hour before kickoff while the other 3 were almost empty because your place wasn’t guaranteed.

Also relocating for the Shaktar game in 115 so hopefully I can do my bit :)
