Bring the Noise

I had to watch it in a crowdy pub over in Netherlands with lots of dippers-fans that had been crawling out of the wood over the past few weeks. It was great to hear the fans making such a great atmosphere. Therefore you could bearly hear what Tyler and Neville were on about. Thank you all in there !

Unreal up there last night, noisy and passionate as fuck.

Agree with Tyler to an extent, watched it again when i got home and he mentioned how good the atmosphere was but also said it's not always like this due to us just turning up and blowing teams away, we've become a bit complacent. Having to chase these fuckers for the title will help with the atmosphere imo.

Yeah, it's kind of weird in a way but I reckon if we'd been going into that game last night 7 points ahead of Liverpool instead of 7 points behind then the atmosphere wouldn't have been quite as good as it was. As much as I'd love more of our fans to join in every game instead of leaving it to several hundred of us in 110/111/114/115/116/SS3 to try and get it going all the time, there does seem to be that mentality amongst our support where as a collective we get behind the team more when we're up against it and need to dig a result out, whereas when it's all going swimmingly well the complacency amongst the fans is prevalent.

I will add that while I thought it was a fantastic atmosphere, I thought - and I'm probably in a minority here - that the fist half of last season's CL quarter-final second leg was perhaps a decibel or two louder. Ditto the first half of the league game against United a few days earlier. Maybe that's because where I was in 115 last night, the noise doesn't always travel well from other parts of the ground. However, what I did notice is that the chants were starting from multiple locations in the ground rather than from the same areas they normally do.

My eleven-year-old lad said to me with five minutes to go, "Dad my throat hurts, I can't speak, have I not drunk enough water?"

I said, "Son, no, that's what happens when we all support the team."

Two very sore throats today. My lad enjoys going every week going with me, but last night was the first time I felt he was swept up by it all and I didn't need to tell him to concentrate or watch the game, haha!

For me, it was better than Hamburg and certainly on a par with that game against United.

Say what you want about standing sections and stuff, it's always about the needle and just wanting it that much more.

What sort of education has your lad had? He couldn't work out for himself singing loud abuse at the Dippers results in a sore throat ;)

"Needle" is a good word for it.

I thought "conflict", but it's much the same idea.

The atmosphere has always been good at derbies, because there's conflict there.

In the 70s and 80s there was obviously running conflict every week, so the atmosphere's were generally good.

In the 90s we were fucking terrible, and the atmosphere came from the fans conflict with the board / managers / players. "We're shit and we're sick of it".

In recent times, we've had it too good. It's been a happy camp. We've not really had any conflict to help generate an atmosphere.

The derbies are still good, usually the Chelsea games if they're battling us for the title, and recently, Liverpool. But when we're strolling to a 3-0 win against Brighton, it's hard to find any conflict there.

I think it's a cultural thing. The Shite and Liverpool consider themselves as better than everyone else, so when that position feels threatened, it creates conflict and maybe a bit of atmosphere.

Whereas I think culturally, City fans are used to being the underdog. It's not really our style to rub it in the opposition's face when we're the best team. Maybe that will change in the future, I'm not sure if that's for the better or not.

But hopefully, the Liverpool game is a turning point. The needle / conflict now should be that we're the champions, arguably the best champions in history. The second half of this season is about proving that. Showing all of the doubters that this team is special. We showed last night that as fans, we can all play a part in that.

And that my friends is how it should be every game regardless of the opposition. The sewer rats shot themselves last night so can you imagine what it would do to lesser teams. And funny how everyone can stay for the full game last night but not for a 12.30 Saturday match. I am convinced that despite being on their last legs the players kept on grafting because of the support they were getting - I know it's not the only reason but you know what I mean. As the video says, you aren't playing 11 you are playing every one of us
Kompany's fist pumps to the team as he was subbed showed what the players felt coming from the crowd.

Anyone else feel absolutely worn out after last night? I don't know if it was the increased singing, the added importance of the game or that I couldn't sleep because I was buzzing after the game but I feel shattered.
Bring back winning the league at a canter!

Yep shattered today. Couldn't sleep, was as excited as a 6 year old waiting for Santa.
