Bring the Noise

And now you've got me feeling guilty for having a pop about what I thought was another family stand quip.
Hahaha, great reply and I hope you and your little one enjoyed the game tonight. We got home before 10 because we left early, but tell anyone ;^)

Ha ha they will fine you.

For what it’s worth my little one said to me tonight “why don’t the other team kick the ball in our half” how things change.

She was bored most of the night! Lol

Dire atmosphere but let’s be honest it was like a training match. Impossible to get any chants going when the game is so slow and all wolves did was defend.

Wolves didn’t make that much noise either and when they did it was targeted at city fans, they were bored too.

Most these empty seats were in the family stand. On paper it’s a good idea but come mid week late games when kids are in school it’s always going to be patchy. The club need to rethink the family stand as it only works on a sat or Sunday.
The family stand is doing its job - bringing through the next generations of blues. But as for the other end of the ground it is just not working. Outnumbered the Wolves fans by 3 to 1 but in the south stand but being totally out sang by them was a bit shameful

I don’t know what the answer is and yes I know it’s a problem not just at city

I was in the south stand tonight . What does it matter what stand were in ? It really does make a difference looking at empty seats ? Hopefully the club will try it's hardest to sort out the issue before next season . City have to lower the prices , the season tickets have gone up season after season. We need to attract the young fans with very low prices. I don't care what amazing footballers we have (which if course we do) alot of poeple can't afford football, it's a luxury . So City please do what is needed to fill the stadium on a Monday night!!

It could work. V Liverpool it boomed out of Level 3 South Stand for a while. With the acoustic designed roof at level 3 noise carries across the pitch. That's where we need our most vocal fans.
No Gary.what needs to happen...is we need to rip out a load of those plastic seats, install a mini Kippax, start playing the young mancuian superstar in waiting, drop the prices for the new terrace to a tenner...and give the youth of Manchester a whole new dimension..instead of this plastic seat, credit card Slumberland for dumbed down zombies which modern football has become...imo.

Remember having a long chat with Danny Wilson when the family stand became two tiered and I told him it was a huge mistake. At the time he said he believed it was the right thing to do but if the uptake wasn’t there and it didn’t work the club would look at it again. I think the time has come. Funny how even when it is full it’s full of adults with no kids in sight!

Season tickets were originally £95 for kids in the family stand and are around £115 now, which is still very cheap and is open to abuse by both fans and touts.
Perhaps a more rigorous identification process is needed when renewing.

I always enjoy grown adults blaming kids in the family stand for them not making any noise in a completely different part of the ground, as if the sight of an empty seat offended them so much they say on their hands in abject horror.

For the family stand it’s kick-off times, that’s all it is. Saturday games get more in there. Midweek and even late Sunday games get less. It’s a struggle, mine are 9, 7, 4 and 2 and we drive down from East Lothian. Midweeks are a write-off, a 4pm kick off on a Sunday means we’re lucky to be home before 10.30 on a school night. We’re usually good to let my nephew and his mates use the tickets but even then midweeks might be a problem as it’s difficult for teenagers even to get there and back on a Thursday night or whatever.

Don’t think you can blame just the family stand. Last night was as many empty seats for a premier league game that I can remember. I genuinely can’t understand why people aren’t turning up to watch the best team we have ever had. We won’t always have this, enjoy it while you can.

Our kids cannot do school nights, put tickets on the exchange, needless to say, they didn't sell, saw the club were asking a minimum of 46.50 for a ticket, on a Monday night v wolves, no wonder they don't sell

No one is blaming them for not making noise. They’re just saying the family stand being behind the goal isn’t a great look on midweek games as understandably they need to be in bed and often there’s many that don’t go.

Every other club has their family stand out of the way of cameras.

I couldn’t care less about empty seats but it bothers enough to do something about it.

It’s easy to blame the family stand as the empty seats speak for themselves but at least most of the no shows have paid season ticket money so it’s their choice if they go or not. I would rather have a family stand ST holder that attends 80% of home league games than a fan who never bothers going and moans about empty seats, atmosphere, queues and post incessantly during games.
disagree, it's the same as corporates buying tickets then not using them.

Buy a ticket, use it, there are others who want to go and I dont think it's fair for someone to own a seat and not use it, making the fanbase look embarrassed AND stopping fans who would turn up for a Wolves game on a Monday night from going.

Pees me off to see Sold Out and then see empty seats, even moreso to listen to the shit about emptihad on the radio then come into work and listen to it in the office.

Many many reasons why there was lots of no shows,
1..it was on Sky
2 if your travelling from outside Manchester ie, Chester,Warrington,Liverpool Preston, Bolton etc and many do it's an utter ballache, getting in from work, quick change, wolf tea down, spend 2 hrs sat in traffic as I often do
3 if your taking the kids, it's a late night no doubt, if they have school ,it's not ideal... just a few reasons why they toss it off
Sad but true

I get all this but Liverpool and united fans don’t so why do some of our fans? I agree with an earlier poster who said that part of the issue is ST holders not turning up and tickets then being unavailable for fans who would go.

it was a bit empty in the family stand - Monday night on sky - my son decided to stay at home (11 school in morning) and I went with my dad.

It was a strange atmosphere last night , despite a very impressive following by wolves on a monday night it has to be said . Quietest I have known the south stand for a while it never really got going.

City's fan base is very working class, not enough nouveau riche have attached themselves to our club yet thank god. Great for me as I get tickets for any game.

Monday night football - check
Still a week and half till payday for most after Christmas - check
Kids have School - check
Gig economy/shift work hours - check

No surprise people are struggling to attend games.

But last night wasn’t sold out and there were plenty of tickets available when I checked yesterday as well as plenty going cheap on here.

The fact that we give it so much attention ourselves just fuels media and the lookers in. In the grand scheme of things is it really a big deal? not really. If some want to watch it on TV one week then go the game next week, so what? If some want to sit and watch the game rather than be stood up singing and giving wanker signs to the opposing fans, so what? It's an amazing time to be a City so just enjoy it, if that be from your couch or the ground just enjoy it. Nobody should have to justify how they want to watch the game to anybody. Not the media or to other fans. If we show that we really couldn't care less then the media will soon get board and move on however, if we continue to fuel the fire the flames will just grow and grow.

We’ll do the same as United soon and force people to attend a certain amount of games.
