But a huge reason why our atmosphere has nose dived is because we started making up songs about players only as the rule, and we haven’t made up any City chants for about a quarter of a century. So when players leave, we lose their chant and it’s taking too long for new ones to be made up for other players so we are left bereft of songs.

United make up loads of chants about United and those chants can stay forever and the song list never gets empty.

We’re terrible for making up new City chants. Well, to be terrible at it would mean we do it, but we don’t, we never make up any City chants.

The last one might have been TBTITLAATW in about 1997.

If we spent a bit of time stopping trying to think of chants for players who just leave, let’s think up some new decent City chants because then it doesn’t matter who comes or goes, wed have a load of mainstays to chant anyway.

You are my City, My only City is a classic and perfect for tonight (every game). Early in thread @trevorriley was saying it's still sung around about the match but I have not heard it in the ground for years. Such a shame. I'd love it to come back as one of our staple songs alongside WNRH and TBTINTLIALW.
It's a proper song for belting out a few times. Would love to hear a rendition tonight if we can get it going. No, I wont be there to help, sorry. Wish I could be.

This has been going for months on away days

As has this....


The problem isn't new songs, it's that it's fucking impossible to get new ones going at home

Not once. Not even an attempt. That will irk him. He wasn't straight on the pitch at the end either though I'm not surprised. We made far too much hard work against that pub team. Can someone tell the lads to shoot, other than Sergio, they all look scared to death of pulling the trigger.
 
We brought the noise tonight. Thought it was a great effort by the fans. Hope Pep appreciated the support his team got from the fans tonight. Bar the odd chant of United, United, and a red smoke bomb, you couldn’t hear the Rags. Compare that to when City fans go to OT. Apparently the Rags were smashing up the seats after the final whistle. Note: GMP kept United fans back. Yet expect City fans to walk through United after a derby match at OT. Are GMP more concerned about the behaviour of City fans or United fans?

feel like I was at a different game. I could only hear the united fans from the east stand.

I was pleasantly surprised at how loud the family stand was, even starting off songs. Acoustics in our ground make no sense

side note would have been good if the players came off and clapped us off

South Standand the Kippax corner were supperb tonight.

Yes, there is something fundamentally wrong with the acoustics at the Etihad.

Could see the NS singing and getting behind the team, but could really hear it from the SSL1.

Very strange stadium.
 
Family stand gets a lot of stick for being a library but they do make an effort for the bigger games... Colin bell stand on the other hand

Colin Bell Lower was very noisy tonight apart from the odd time. Like just before half time when I shouted ‘we fight to the end’ just as it went really quiet and the VAR man turned round to see who it was, which caused some amusement around me! :-) I did apologise to everyone as the game started as I said I’m probably going to embarrass myself tonight and I guess I did! :-)

So, no, I’m sorry but the CBL1 was definitely not quiet tonight. They made a heck of a noise. Not sure about the other levels but we were noisy.
