Bruno Peres

We've had Sagna/Zabba as our RB's for a few years now. Sagna is 34 and out of contract next summer. Peres wage is pretty much what we pay our "squad players". So there is still the option that Sagna is replaced by someone like Bellerin etc...

I guess it will depend how Pep sets us up - if as we suspect the full backs will be our wide option in some games - we will need specialist wing backs as per Perez. In other games we maybe more conventional and need full backs who are stronger defensively - in which case you are correct we will see a strong replacement for Sagna who can cover all full back options Pep may want to deploy.

Totally agree but he's clearly over priced if we don't see him as an automatic starter. For 20m we must be able to find someone decent.

In my opinion there's a big lack of quality fullbacks these years which makes clubs pay premium for them, and we have to remember that english clubs have a lot more money than usual, and clubs now that by now.

The wage offer suggests to me that he isn't necessarily seen as a first-choice RB.

Don't think you can say that!? £17mil is a decent fee for a full back and like many have said he is getting a decent pay hike with offer we've given him.
We'd have been told what he is currently on and tried to lure him with the offer of a bit more. We'd be foolish to suddenly bump him up to 90,000k a week.

If his wage is what's been speculated then the club should be applauded! Love Zabaleta to bits but he is on hell of a lot more than 33,000k per week. We're improving the squad (hopefully) and trimming the wage bill = Excellent business.

With the money saved on wages, can't we go ahead and pay them €20M and close the deal?
