Re: Bruno Zuculini

Racing Club have confirmed that Bruno Zuculini is travelling to England to finalise a deal to join Manchester City, more than 6 months after it was initially reported. The 21-year-old midfielder is reported to cost the big-spending, Premier League Champions just £1.5 million.

A statement on the Racing website said, “Bruno Zuculini today traveled to England to perform a medical examination at Manchester City.” With his contract running down at the Avellaneda side where he started his career, City are believed to have wrapped up a deal for as little as £1.5 million.

Zuculini holds an Italian passport so the deal will not be disrupted by any work permit issues and this drawn out transfer will finally be concluded.

A classy defensive midfielder, Zuculini has gone on to play 92 times for Racing since making his debut back in 2010. Comfortable on the ball and capable of bursting forward from deep, Zuculini has scored 10 times for the first team, and is yet another off the Racing academy conveyor belt.

His older brother, Franco was another of Racing’s youth products and also made the move to Europe at a young age when Hoffenheim signed him. Spells at Genoa and Real Zaragoza followed but the older Zuculini now finds himself back in Argentina. Bruno will be hoping his European adventure is more successful.

For the cut price it represents a good deal for Manchester City but unless he is loaned out somewhere it is difficult to see Zuculini getting much playing time. It would be a shame at just 21 to see his development grind to a halt sitting on the bench and playing for the reserves.

Re: Bruno Zuculini

As he's a little older than guys like Lopes, any chance he gets on the subs bench for City this year? Or are we loaning him out?

Manchester City have beaten Manchester United and Barcelona to the signing of Racing Club wonderkid Bruno Zuculini, Express reports.

The Citizens paid around £1.5million for his services and will become the fourth Argentinean player on Manchester City’s roster.

Although the City hierarchy sees him as one for the future, Manuel Pellegrini is already hoping that the defensive midfielder can slot right into the first team squad.

His current employers confirmed the switch in an official statement, which read: “Bruno Zuculini today travelled to England to perform a medical examination at Manchester City.”

Zuculini made 92 appearances for Racing ever since he debuted for the club at the tender age of 17.

The starlet will be the Citizens’ third signing this summer, having previously captured Arsenal right back Bacary Sagna on a free and FC Porto’s Fernando.

1,5 Mill? That's a real bargain, even for a backup player or a rotation player. Hope he do well in City!

Re: Bruno Zuculini

I notice that he was born after Jan 1993 so would, if the club decide not to loan him out immediately, be a B list player in UCL and also not take up a place in the EPL squad list. That might be handy in that we will most likely need to leave 1 out of the UCL squad, maybe Garcia, who he could replace.

No, he won't. You need to be at the club for 2 years and be under 21

Nastasic counts next season as B list player in CL and he is 21 also.

Great to see what you can buy with the loose change down the back of the sofa.
